Selene Valor, a pureblood vampire,  entered a marriage of convenience with her husband Gabriel Valor to protect herself from relatives eyeing what was left of her family's wealth. Eugene got what he needed seeing that the pair wasn't so together on what occurred that unfortunate night. With the current tension between vampires and humans around the kingdom, Gabriel might find himself in hot water if he killed a vampire over lies from his wife.

Incidents like this ruined the other marriages with one vampire and human partner. The court would go on to say that vampires and humans shouldn't mix yet it was the purebloods who created mixed-bloods.

"That is all I needed to know. I will visit your father to have a word with him and then I will get back to you about the final judgement. Please be mindful that you might have to come to me and your ex-wife might be there. If you feel you cannot be in the same space as her, I will make other arrangements," said Eugene.
