The day of the talent show was upon them. Julian had been hyping it up for weeks, and the MC had somehow ended up as Julian's designated assistant, which, in Julian's world, meant carrying a box of glitter, three capes, and a fake crown for their grand performance.
"MC!" Julian waved energetically, waving around a neon green feather boa. "We need to rehearse! I'm thinking dramatic flair. You hold my cape, and I'll become Hamlet!"
The MC scribbled:
"You don't need the feather boa. Just... don't trip."
Luca was leaning against the wall, looking bored. "This is going to be a disaster," they muttered, tossing a paper plane into the air. "I can feel it."
The MC quickly wrote:
"You're not even performing. What's your problem?"
Luca smirked. "Exactly. I don't have to perform to enjoy the chaos."
Milo, who had been standing quietly by the corner, suddenly announced, "Did you know the talent show was originally a fundraiser for the local community? In 1949, the first high school talent show raised enough money to buy new musical instruments for the band."
Julian groaned, flopping dramatically onto the floor. "Milo, I love you, but please, not now!"
Lila arrived, looking effortlessly cool as always, a little nervous but still flashing her warm smile at the group. "Ready to go, MC?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with that gentle curiosity.
The MC quickly scribbled in their notebook:
"Ready as I'll ever be."
Lila read it with a soft chuckle. "You've got this. Even if you're just holding a cape." She winked before walking toward the backstage area.
The MC's heart skipped again. They felt the familiar flutter of nerves, not just because of the talent show, but because of Lila.
Julian snapped their fingers in front of the MC's face. "Hey! Focus! The show is about to start!" They stood, putting the feather boa around their neck like a crown. "Let's make history!"
The MC, exhausted from all the chaos, wrote:
"We're already making history. This is going to be legendary."
Luca laughed loudly from the side. "That's the spirit. Now, let's see if Julian can survive the cape disaster."
