Lylia’s gift

Lylia sighed as she gazed out the window of the Vanderbilt estate.

It had already been a few months since Michael left home, but the loneliness had settled in from the very first day her son left.

Feeling bored, she got up out of her bed and started to wander around their mansion.

Everywhere she looked, she was reminded of him.

As she walked into the kitchen house, she saw the maids washing the dishes using the faucets Michael had made.

As she went outside, she saw Sebastian and the other butlers playing chess during their break times. There was a clear absence within their group, with the middle chair always left vacant for Michael.

Then, she strolled to the backyard, where the training yard stood silent. She used to have early morning magic training sessions with Michael here every day. And even though there was nothing left for her to teach, he still listened patiently, absorbing her every lesson without feeling bored.
