Chapter 114: Sasori vs. Orochimaru

On the Tenchi Bridge, where the wind howled relentlessly, the sight of Hiruko—a familiar puppet armor—brought a glint of recognition to Yakushi Kabuto's eyes. He casually lowered his hood, greeting his adversary with a feigned air of respect. "It's been a long time, Master Sasori."

"Hmph." Sasori's voice was cold and emotionless. "Tell me—where are Orochimaru and Sasuke now?"

Kirito, not one for dramatic flair, followed the principle of simplicity. Avoiding unnecessary dialogue, he opted to ask straightforwardly. Coincidentally, Sasori's own personality aligned with this approach—he despised wasting time, preferring to get straight to the point.

Hearing the inquiry, Kabuto adjusted his glasses thoughtfully before responding. "Orochimaru's bases are scattered across the world. He relocates them weekly, employing a variety of methods to evade detection. Even I can't predict where his next hideout will be."

"Then where is he now?" Sasori pressed.

"He's currently stationed on a small island in the northern lake. He'll move in three days. Sasuke is there as well."

Sasori fell silent for a moment before asking, "What is Sasuke's condition? Has he become a vessel for Orochimaru yet?"

"Not yet, but the time is nearing. Orochimaru's body rejection is worsening." Kabuto's tone turned calculating. "By the way, Master Sasori, I've completed the task you assigned—collecting discarded cells from Orochimaru's reincarnation experiments. However, I can't analyze them without your assistance. I'll need you to hand over that item."

Suddenly, a rustling sound emerged from the bushes behind Kabuto. He stiffened, his senses sharpening as he turned toward the noise, ready for trouble.

To his relief, a rabbit timidly poked its head from the underbrush. Startled by the sight of the two figures on the bridge, it quickly darted back into the forest.

Kabuto let out a soft sigh of relief before turning back to Sasori. "Master Sasori, I risk my life to assist you. Please, hand over the item."

That rabbit... it's Orochimaru's signal. Kirito's sharp Byakugan had caught the subtle exchange, allowing him to spot the hidden signs of Orochimaru's approach. Remaining calm, Kirito manipulated Hiruko, raising its arm as though reaching for something.

Kabuto, assuming Sasori was about to hand over the requested scroll, reached forward eagerly. However, he and Orochimaru had already planned their betrayal. The moment Kabuto let his guard down, the duo would strike.

As Hiruko extended its arm, Kabuto's demeanor shifted. His outstretched hand transformed into a sharp chakra scalpel, slicing toward Hiruko's head. Simultaneously, Orochimaru emerged from the shadows behind Kabuto.

Snap!

The chakra scalpel connected, splitting Hiruko's puppet shell in half. From within, a black silhouette leaped away, retreating to a safer distance.

Unfazed, Orochimaru lunged forward, releasing a torrent of venomous snakes from his arm. "Hidden Shadow Snake Hands!" he called out, sending the serpents hurtling toward Sasori's true form.

The black shadow was quickly ensnared by the writhing snakes, suspended mid-air.

"So, you've betrayed me, Kabuto?" The red-haired youth bound by the snakes gazed calmly at Kabuto despite his predicament.

Kabuto adjusted his glasses, smirking. "Master Sasori, Orochimaru-sama deciphered your art long ago. I happen to share his vision."

Sasori remained unfazed as Orochimaru taunted him. "The child you entrusted to me has proven quite useful. Thanks to him, my experiments have flourished. Now, your actions are restrained, and you can no longer summon the Third Kazekage puppet."

"Is that so?" Sasori murmured.

With those words, a wave of dense black iron thorns erupted from Sasori's body, shredding the snakes that had bound him into a mass of lifeless flesh.

Orochimaru's eyes narrowed as Sasori manipulated the iron sand to hover menacingly in the air, condensing it into a massive, gleaming cone.

"Unfortunately," Sasori said coldly, "my Third Kazekage puppet was recently damaged. I've since modified it into my own body."

With a flick of his finger, the enormous cone shot forward, aimed directly at Orochimaru and Kabuto.

Boom!

The Tenchi Bridge trembled violently as the impact splintered the concrete, leaving a massive crater in the bridge deck.

"Is that Sasori's true form, Orochimaru-sama?" Kabuto asked, narrowly avoiding the attack.

"Yes," Orochimaru replied, his expression tightening. "Even you, who have worked with him for so long, have never seen his true form, have you?"

"No," Kabuto admitted. "He always used his previous appearance when communicating with me. What do we do now?"

Before Orochimaru could respond, the iron sand dispersed into countless needle-like projectiles, hovering ominously in the air before launching in unison toward the pair.

Clang!

A massive snake burst from beneath Orochimaru's feet, coiling protectively around him and Kabuto. Its thick scales deflected the iron needles with ease.

Realizing the needles were ineffective, Sasori re-formed the iron sand into a dense cone, preparing to strike again.

Just as the cone began its descent, a gleaming sword shot upward from beneath the bridge, piercing straight toward Sasori's chest.

"The weakness of a puppet master is their body!" Orochimaru sneered as he emerged, his sword driving forward with deadly intent.

Clang!

The attack was intercepted by a steel cable tipped with an arrowhead that burst from Sasori's abdomen, shattering the blade.

"What?!" Orochimaru exclaimed, caught off guard.

Before Orochimaru could retreat, the massive cone crashed down with devastating force.

Boom!

The bridge shook violently, half of it collapsing as Orochimaru's body was bisected. His wails echoed as he fell toward the abyss.

Yet, from the remains of his severed torso, pale hands emerged, stretching outward as his body regenerated. Covered in viscous slime, Orochimaru stood once more, his snake-like grin unbroken.

"Well now, this is getting interesting, Sasori," Orochimaru hissed, his tongue flicking in delight.
