Chapter 128: The Power of Hidan

"Hahaha! I must offer you to Lord Jashin! Just surrender already!" Hidan laughed maniacally as he swung his blood-red scythe with reckless abandon, using its long reach to keep Asuma at bay.

Shikamaru, originally intending to support Asuma by containing Hidan, had to adapt his strategy due to Kakuzu's sudden interference.

"Water Style: Water Adhesive Field!"

Izumo quickly formed hand seals and spat a viscous liquid onto the ground. The liquid spread rapidly, forming a sticky surface meant to restrict Kakuzu's movements.

"This distance is too close for ranged attacks," Kotetsu muttered, channeling chakra into his feet to traverse the slick terrain. With his massive sledgehammer in hand, he charged toward Kakuzu.

Clang!

Kakuzu raised his arm and effortlessly blocked the hammer's crushing blow. His stance didn't waver despite the weapon's heavy impact.

"What strength?!" Kotetsu gasped, struggling to pull his weapon free.

With a swift motion, Kakuzu countered, swinging his large, silver moneybox and striking Kotetsu square in the face. The blow sent Kotetsu flying through the air.

As Kakuzu prepared to pursue, he noticed the adhesive water encroaching and instinctively leapt to higher ground.

From his elevated position, Kakuzu examined the liquid coating the battlefield. "A restrictive jutsu. As long as I avoid it, I'll be fine," he assessed.

Suddenly, black tendrils shot out from Kakuzu's arm, extending toward the dazed Kotetsu.

"Cough… cough…" Kotetsu groaned, clutching his bruised face as he struggled to stand. But before he could act, Kakuzu's tendrils wrapped around his throat and slammed him into the ground.

"Kotetsu!" Izumo shouted, abandoning his jutsu to charge at Kakuzu with a kunai in hand.

"Futile," Kakuzu muttered, swinging Kotetsu's body like a weapon, slamming it into Izumo and knocking him backward. With both incapacitated, Kakuzu tightened his grip on Kotetsu.

"I'd love to collect your heart, but I don't have the time," Kakuzu said coldly.

Realizing he couldn't break free, Kotetsu hurled his sledgehammer skyward. Mid-flight, the weapon transformed into a hang glider and honed in on Kakuzu's position.

"What?!" Kakuzu growled in surprise.

Choosing caution, Kakuzu avoided using his Earth Style hardening technique, opting instead to dodge the incoming weapon with agility.

Boom!

The sledgehammer crashed into the ground, erupting in a cloud of smoke and debris.

Dark shadows closed in on Kakuzu from all sides.

"This shadow jutsu again?" Kakuzu muttered, releasing Kotetsu and retreating to avoid being ensnared.

Meanwhile, Asuma struggled to contend with Hidan's relentless assault. The scythe's extended reach and Hidan's ferocious skill left him on the defensive.

"What's wrong? Too scared to fight back?" Hidan taunted, spinning his scythe menacingly. "You're better than that bald monk, at least."

"You bastard!" Asuma growled, holding his chakra blades defensively as he anticipated Hidan's next move.

Hidan's reckless combat style, where he willingly traded injuries for the chance to land a hit, made him a particularly challenging opponent.

"Oh? Looks like your friend is in trouble," Hidan sneered, glancing toward Kotetsu. "Kakuzu loves ripping hearts out. He's probably next."

Asuma clenched his teeth but kept his focus, refusing to let anger cloud his judgment.

Suddenly, Hidan broke off and charged toward Shikamaru.

"Damn it!" Asuma sprinted after him, knowing Shikamaru was vulnerable.

"Got you!" Hidan abruptly spun mid-charge, hurling his scythe at Asuma with precision.

Asuma raised his arm and blocked the blade, stopping it inches from his face.

"You won't fool me," Asuma said, steadying his stance.

"Oh, really?" Hidan smirked, yanking the scythe to pull Asuma off balance. With his free hand, he revealed a concealed spear and thrust it toward Asuma's chest.

Unable to fully evade, Asuma twisted his body, taking the spear in his shoulder instead of his heart. Blood seeped from the wound, staining his ninja vest.

"Sensei Asuma!" Shikamaru shouted, redirecting his shadow to force Hidan to retreat.

Clutching his shoulder, Asuma staggered back to Shikamaru's side.

"I'm fine… just a scratch," Asuma muttered, though blood dripped through his fingers.

Hidan licked the blood from his spear, a sadistic grin spreading across his face as black and white patterns appeared on his body, giving him the appearance of a skeleton.

"What kind of technique is that?" Izumo asked, his voice trembling.

Hidan ignored the question and stepped into the ritual circle he had drawn earlier. Without hesitation, he stabbed himself in the shoulder with his spear.

"Ahhh!" Asuma cried out, clutching his shoulder in pain. Blood poured from the wound, mirroring Hidan's self-inflicted injury.

"Sensei Asuma! Your shoulder—!"

Shikamaru's eyes widened as he connected the dots. "The wound wasn't this severe before… Is it connected to Hidan's jutsu? Could he be transferring the damage he inflicts on himself?"

Hidan chuckled darkly. "Now, where should I stab next? Here? Or maybe here?" He drove the spear into his waist.

"Ahhh!" Asuma collapsed, trembling as new pain wracked his body.

"It's true… He's sharing his damage with Asuma," Shikamaru muttered, desperation creeping into his voice.

Kakuzu, observing from a distance, remarked dryly, "Hidan, stop wasting time. Your rituals are always unnecessarily drawn out."

"This is a sacred offering to Lord Jashin!" Hidan barked, raising the spear over his heart. "Now, it's time to savor true bliss!"

"No—!" Shikamaru shouted, realizing what was about to happen.

Before Hidan could complete the ritual, a streak of silver light flashed across the battlefield.

Hidan's body hurtled through the air, crashing into the restroom wall with a deafening thud.

Standing in his place was a tall figure with silver hair flowing in the wind, emanating an ethereal white aura.
