The valley echoed with the rhythmic crash of stone against stone, the ground trembling as Yami's eight-headed serpent form smashed boulders into rubble. Her scaled tails swept across the terrain, flattening trees and clearing an open space for what would become their stronghold.
"This should be enough space, Master," Yami said, all eight of her heads turning to Kai. Her voice echoed in sync, regal and commanding. "Do you wish for a throne of stone? A palace of obsidian? I can carve one fit for a king."
Kai watched her with a wry grin. "No need for a throne, Yami. I'm not a king, just a man who likes his space."
"A king without a throne is just a man," Yami replied, flicking one of her tails in amusement. Her eyes sparkled with mischief. "But very well, I shall make you a fortress fit for a man of ambition."
Selene perched on a nearby boulder, her many legs moving with silent grace. Her sharp gaze shifted between Yami and Kai. "Do not humor her too much, Master. She enjoys the sound of her own voice."
Yami's main head narrowed her eyes. "Says the one who hides in shadows."
"Shadows are where victory is decided," Selene replied coolly.
"Enough," Kai interjected, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You two are going to drive me insane."
Yami chuckled softly, her snake-like grin revealing sharp fangs. "Only because you allow it, Master."

Kai's eyes widened as he read the system's update. "An exit portal?"
Selene glanced at him, her eyes narrowing. "It seems our time here is coming to an end, Master."
"If there's a Guardian, it's not going to be easy," Kai muttered. "We've already fought enough monsters for one lifetime."
"Then what's one more?" Yami asked with a grin. "Give me a name, Master, and I shall devour this Guardian whole."
Kai blinked, glancing toward her. "A name, huh?"
The moment he spoke, a prompt from the system appeared in front of him.

Kai scratched his chin, his mind racing. "A name… It has to be something fitting."

"I'll call you... Yami."
The system's golden glow enveloped Yami, her body shining with ethereal light as the name took root. The power of the system resonated with her very essence, and she released a low, rumbling hiss of satisfaction.

Selene dipped her head. "As you wish, Master." Her body shimmered as she vanished into the shadows, completely undetectable.
"And as for you," Kai said, looking at Yami. "Let's make this place our home."
Yami cracked her knuckles, her golden eyes gleaming with excitement. "Understood, Master."
