"Welcome Bailey."
Everyone was now in awe of the new girl at their school, she was surprised that they hadn't missed class.
By lunchtime, Bailey was swarmed with new friends and admirers. She turned a bit and Grayson slept on his arms.
Dawn got back home and began cleaning. Grayson walked in as she was busy with his room and started.
"Do you want me to come back later to finish cleaning?"
"No, carry on."
He sat on the chair and she felt a bit nervous and carried on cleaning as he was watching her so intently.
"Are you still fucken sulking over your job?"
She turned to him. "No, not anymore."
Grayson shook his head. "You should be happy that I helped you. You would not have the backbone to quit the job on your own."
Dawn did not say a thing in response and carried on with her work. She turned and saw that Grayson had fallen asleep.
She saw that he looked so peaceful, and his face did not have a single bad angle. When she was done, Dawn did not know if she should wake him up or let him sleep.
She took a blanket and covered him, took his books, then carried on with cleaning the rest of the house.
When she was done, Dawn began working on their homework, and by the time she was done, she raced downstairs to get dinner going.
"Smells delicious."
Dawn turned to Grayson and tried to quiet her heartbeat, "Thank you."
He sat by the counter. "Pour me some juice."
Dawn nodded, "Which juice?"
"Surprise me."
Dawn nodded, "Sure."
She got him the orange juice.
"How bland." He took it as he took a sip.
"It's to boost your immune system as you seemed tired." She replied hastily.
Grayson looked at her, and she turned away quickly.
"What are you making?"
"Pasta Bolognese and salad."
"Can't wait to eat. I'm starving."
"Should be ready in about ten minutes."
"That's great."
He stood up and took some plates as he began setting up the table.
She was surprised that he was helping her. "Thank you."
He scoffed, "Don't thank me. I'm only doing this because I'm starved."
Dawn nodded, it was too good to be true, "Of course."
"Do I still look bad?"
Dawn turned to him, surprised at his question. "I don't get you?"
"You're smart." He said sarcastically.
"Huh?"
"Which part about my question is hard?"
"I......….sorry..I don't get it."
"You gave me orange juice implying that I looked bad Dawn."
Dawn's eyes widened, "NO….no….I did….not mean it in that way......…..I had just meant…..you were tired earlier on....and....."
He raised his eyebrow. "So you think I'm attractive?"
Dawn's face flamed, "Ye…..I ….I me….an in ….gen…..but.....the...….way…..I….not…I…all the….girls….."
Grayson laughed outright, "I'm playing with you, Dawn."
Her shoulders sagged in relief. "Oh….."
He chuckled, "You're fun to tease."
Her face flamed more. "Ahhh."
"What's so funny?"
They both turned to Bailey, and Dawn knew embarrassment was coming when Grayson told Bailey why he was laughing.
"Nothing much." Grayson replied.
Dawn was surprised that he had not told Bailey, which shifted something in her that she did not want to think about at the present moment, but alone.
"You never laugh Grayson, so it must have been funny."
"It doesn't matter."
Bailey turned to her. "Why was Grayson laughing?"
Dawn shifted, "I…..I….."
"You what? We don't have the whole day."
"I........."
"Leave her be, Bailey, she is always like this."
Bailey turned to Grayson. "I was simply asking her a question."
"Fine, it's a secret as to why I was laughing."
"I will let it go, just this once." Bailey replied.
Grayson turned to her. "You don't have to know everything."
Bailey backed down, "I know that, we have been friends since childhood. That is why I'm curious as to why you laughed, which you barely do."
"You're exaggerating now. I do laugh at times."
"You forget that I know you well Grayson, you rarely laugh outright and I can tell when you sincerely laugh."
Grayson shrugged, "Big deal."
He turned to her.
"Is dinner ready?"
Dawn nodded, "Yes."
"Great."
"You seem very excited." Bailey replied.
"She is quite the cook. Her being here helps so much."
Dawn's face bloomed with color, she dished up and wondered if she should sit with them or not.
"Sit, are you going to eat standing?" said Grayson.
Dawn nodded and sat down.
Grayson began scarfing down his food, and she watched as he was inhaling it down, enjoying it. Dawn was pleased that he was enjoying it.
"Give me more."
Dawn got up and dished him seconds,
"Add more."
Dawn nodded, and add way more, Grayson resumed scarfing his food down, she smiled lightly.
Dawn turned and found Bailey watching her. Her expression gave nothing away but her eyes were cold.
