Isla sat in the middle of the room, her bright eyes fixed on her teacher, but her attention was soon diverted to the girl sitting next to her, a new friend she had made. Isla leaned over, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Hey, do you think my mommy's belly is big because she ate a baby?" she asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.
The little girl beside her, Clara, blinked in surprise, clearly confused. "I don't think so," Clara replied softly, her voice hesitant. "But maybe she has a baby in there like the ones in the books. My mommy had one, and she had to go to the hospital."
Isla nodded eagerly, as if she had figured it all out. "That's what my mommy said! But I think it's a girl baby because she has a lot of pink things."
Clara grinned, excited by the idea of a baby. "Maybe it's a princess! I love princesses!"
Isla giggled, leaning even closer to Clara. "I want to name her Sparkle!" she whispered, her eyes glimmering with mischief.
