The rain died down after a while a with his good hearing he could still hear the faint cries of Tilly. His guilt only grew with the passage of time. Enough to bring him to tears. His heart yurned but he moved foward. His resolve was greater than his love and that was his crime.
He wanted to change the course of history. But how does one go about changing the impossible? If fate willed destruction upon planet earth it would happen. If the heavens willed destruction upon planet earth it would happen. Who would dare challenge such calamities? Yet Zylan was a person who would. And after many life times he found a way. But the cost was heavy.
He needed to travel back to his beginning and change the path humanity took. Humanity wished to challenge the gods by climbing up to higher ranks from humanitairy level through to Planetry. But would gods really be on such a small level? The answer Zylan found was no.
Humans were too ambitious to see a bigger picture. They believe if they could see it they could achieve it. But if the calamity of the heavens were so big that they looked so close to humans from so far away, one would be enclined to think they could achieve anything. However they were wrong.
Zylan found something so much bigger. Humans had been vanquisheed by the time he found this knowledge so it was to late to rechallange the heavens. This time humans must climb to higher limits before so.
However the cost of traveling back in time means you must start over. From the very beginning. Zylan would be the only one to remember anything and so everybody would forget him
Including Tilly. He would have to start over.
He had loved Tilly for a very long time. Long before she had loved him. In the end he had to put it all aside. Maybe after he achieved victory he could love her in piece. For eternity. That was his final wish. Unfortunately he had many others wishes to fill before that.
In this world there were ranks and abilities to climb higher, challenges one must follow through to gain more power. Humanitariy level was a normal human then Awakened , blessed , ascended and finally planetry level. Humans would grow stronger and with enough time and preparation they could reach beyond that. Maybe one day they could destroy heavens.
In reality he wanted to be the one to destroy the heavens for many reasons.
The first being because the heavens were not as they seemed. They hid a maze of lies and malice. The heavens didn't wish glory upon any planet , universes or galaxy. They were a powerful group of foe. They were gods in there own class. A danger capable of destroying universes. Looking upon one of heavens people would be a enough to kill a human. The heavens were beings of evil and wished destruction upon the realm of reality itself.
The other reason was Tilly. Tilly was the only person who he ever loved and she loved him back. In every lifetime he had found his was back to her. But the heavens were against it. Tilly was a vessel of divinity and she was bound by the heavens choice, fate, and Zylan wished for her freedom. He wanted to be with her with nobody holding them back.
So yes, Zylan allowed his ambition to take control. He could only hope that she would forgive him this once. Not that she would know of his deeds. Still the guilt would be there with him forever.

Zylan contuined walking for days, the sun shone continuously, a momento for the heavens. The had succeeded in creating a sad ending for the young lovers that loved for thousands of years. So while the sun was pretty, it was gray in his eyes. He'd rather an endless night than leveling in such a hell.
Eventually his travelling time surpassed that of 2 weeks when a towering building fell onto his gaze. The building climbed hundreds of meters into the sky. The climax of the building held a large clock slowly tictocing closer and closer too doomsday. The tower looked like it was a sculpture of pure elegance.
As the tower drew nearer more details of the tower could be seen.
There was a gate way with two stone angels that stood by either side of the entrance. They had long hairs that fell to the floor and large wings that were carved with careful hands. The whole building looked like it would take hundreds even thousands of years to sculpt.
With the perfect clear skys the view of the Clock tower looked like a perfect painting made with only the most expensive paints.
It took Zylan a couple more days before he actually reach the entrance of the Clock tower. The Entrance to the tower was multiple times bigger than that of the school gate. The whole school paled in comparison to the Clock tower.
The Clock tower was the embodiment of artichetures finest work. The building was made from stone yet its grey tone was all kinds of shades making it look even better. The intricate patterns, statues of angels and gargoyles all made the building even more magnificent. The door opened with a little essence from some above or equivalent to ascended level so it wasn't to hard for Zylan to open.
On the inside of the structure was what look liked 100 thousands worth of steps all leading to the top. Who new maybe there were more steps then he thought. He prayed not.
He needed to reach the top before a full blood moon. Fortunately the next full blood moon was in a couple of days so he did not have to wait another hundred years for the next.
It wouldn't take more than a day to reach the top of the tower, as an ascended level being traversing such distances wouldn't take long. However the idea of climbing that many steps was still daunting.
Putting his thoughts aside he started to climb.

Finally, after what felt forever, Zylan reached the top. To his suprise, though, what met him was not what he thought infact it was a little creepy. There was a black marble statue of a weeping angel infront of him. It looked as if it was ready eat him at any moment, ready to come to life. He felt an eerie feeling when looking at it so he turned away.
Instead he shifted his interest, he had to look for the right thing. He need to find a small seed that could turn back time and continuously feed essence to it until the blood moon. As an ascneded one dose of essence would not nearly be enough to feed an object capable of re-shifting therefore he had to continuously give up his essence to achieve his goal. Even then he was worried that it wouldn't be enough. He wasn't 100% sure how it worked so it was a matter of logical thinking. The more essence the further back in time he went.
Based on that theory, if he fueled it with enough essence he could travel back in time to before humans existed but that was practically impossible. Even if he was one of humans best warrior's, only one rank below the max of human knowledge, it was still an exceptionally large amount of essence which nobody should be in possession of.
Before Zylan started searching properly he sat down on a chair that was conveniently placed near him.
He contemplated many thing while sat there.
'Is it really worth it? Having to loose her again. This is the last timeline I'll have to live right? Im not just trying to make excuses. Maybe I am? She doesn't deserve this. I don't deserve this either though. Maybe this time the heavens won't split us like this. Or maybe this will keep happening. Maybe I'll never escape this endless cycle.'
Zylan just sat there alone once again.
