Suspended Logic

Kael sat in his room, staring at the stack of papers spread across his desk. His suspension had officially started, but that didn't mean he was free of responsibilities. The project on the Heaven and Hell War loomed over him like a dark cloud, and he was more annoyed than ever.

"This is so stupid," Kael muttered to himself, leaning back in his chair. "What's the point of a suspension if I still have to do work?"

Despite his complaints, he had texted Aurora earlier, inviting her over to continue working on the project. It wasn't the most logical decision—he *was* suspended, after all—but logic wasn't exactly his strong suit at the moment.

A soft knock on his bedroom door snapped him out of his thoughts. Kael opened it to find Aurora standing there, holding her notebook tightly to her chest.

"Hey," she said quietly, her cheeks already turning pink.

"Hey," Kael replied, stepping aside to let her in.

Aurora hesitated for a moment before walking in, her eyes darting around the room. She sat down in the chair Kael had pulled up for her, placing her notebook on the desk.

"Thanks for coming over," Kael said, sitting down beside her.

Aurora nodded, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "It's okay. We still have a lot to do," she said softly.

Kael sighed. "Yeah, tell me about it."

As they started working, the space between them gradually disappeared. The desk was small, and they were both leaning in to write and share notes. Aurora's shoulder occasionally brushed against Kael's, and each time it happened, she'd freeze for a moment before continuing.

Kael, on the other hand, tried to play it cool, though he couldn't help but notice how close they were. The air between them felt charged, and Kael wasn't sure if it was just his imagination.

Suddenly, there was a sharp knock on the window. Both Kael and Aurora jumped, their heads snapping toward the noise.

"What the—" Kael muttered, getting up to investigate. He opened the window, and to his surprise, Sean was standing on the ledge outside.

"Hey," Sean said casually, climbing through the window as if it was the most normal thing in the world.

Kael stepped back, utterly confused. "Sean, what are you doing here? Use the door like a normal person."

Sean dusted himself off and grinned. "I'm here to make sure you two don't kiss," he said, his tone light and friendly.

Aurora turned bright red, her eyes wide. "W-what?!" she stammered, clutching her notebook like a lifeline.

Kael groaned, running a hand down his face. "Sean, get out. We're working."

Sean raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Working on what? Your grades or your *relationship*?"

"Sean," Kael warned, his voice low.

"Relax, man," Sean said, holding up his hands in mock surrender. "I'm just here to hang out."

Aurora remained silent, her face still burning as Sean plopped down on Kael's bed like he owned the place.

"So," Sean said, looking between them, "how's the project coming along?"

Kael shot him a glare. "It was going fine until you showed up."

Sean shrugged, unbothered. "Just think of me as a chaperone. You're welcome."

Aurora let out a quiet squeak, burying her face in her notebook.

Kael sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You're the worst."

"I know," Sean said with a grin. "But you love me for it."

Kael muttered something under his breath before sitting back down at the desk. "Let's just get back to work," he said, ignoring Sean's presence as best as he could.

Aurora nodded timidly, though the tension in the room was impossible to ignore.
