A decision taken overnight

The rays of the morning sun shone into the dimly lit room straight on Riezekiel's face as he slowly woke up from his slumber

He blinked his eyes a few times to adjust to the light before he alas stood up from bed. Having slept a whole day he felt energetic and in high spirits as he casually grabbed the tablet from the table and walked out while checking his mails snd attending to work related matters

"Good morning" Zosia greeted as she set the table. The delicious aroma of breakfast wafted in his nostrils making his stomach growl softly

He wondered how she learnt to cook this good in the midst of the crumbling world

"you're awake" he eyed her over making sure, she was okay before sinking into the seat

The large wolf whimpered as it laid next to Zosia's feet

"Mm" Zosia nodded casually, fishing out a vial from her space pocket she fed it to the wolf

"The base is on lockdown henceforth " he informed her as he dug into his meal still scanning her over

His probing gaze gave Zosia a feeling of unease "Athena's in the guest house" Zosia replied offhandedly

"Who's that?" Riezekiel asked curiously. It was clear he had no idea who Athena was

"Lester's wife" she replied and he nodded, he wasn't one to be concerned with other people's matters "she's only here with the children, the others are back home" Zosia added seeing his unwillingness to take the conversation further

To this Riezekiel frowned lightly

"What exactly happened?" His brow raised in confusion as his dark orbs settled on Zosia

"The had a fallout" she replied as she ate, clearly the fallout between the couple was no concern of hers

"They'll sort it out, for now if they are ready to rekindle, she can leave the base or take them in?" He replied as his black orbs took in the wolf's huge form. His surbordinates had informed him about what transpired and he was about to look into

"Mm" Zosia continued to enjoy her breakfast which was scrambled eggs, crepes with different flavorful fillings as well as some ham and sausages to the side with a cup of tea each for them both

After breakfast Zosia cleaned the dishes whistle Riezekiel walked to the bathroom to freshen up for the days work

"I may leave for an expedition soon" he said as he walked out clad in his combat uniform which contrasted greatly with his casual fit

The military combat uniform made him look even more masculine

"So many soldiers have been deployed is it worth the risk?" Zosia asked with a frown settling on her lips

"It's my duty wife" he sighed helplessly, it was the path he had chosen and he could only go through with it

Zosia on the other hand was the least bit happy with this development

"If I don't go, this base wouldn't be safe for us anymore.... We have to eradicate the problem in the front lines so everyone can be safe here rather than wait blindly and lose lives" he added resolutely and Zosia's Jae tightened

She didn't like the idea of him being a sacrificial lamb to a bunch of ungrateful humans

"Wait for me to bring the good news okay" he sighed as he hugged her tightly inhaling the scent of flowers and herbs on her which calmed him significantly

He knew he had to do this and there was no turning back

But seeing her like this his heart ached

They had only been married less than a month and haven't even been able to spend time with each other as he was always on the move

He hadn't even given her a proper honey moon yet now he had to leave again

"You can't die" Zosia patted his chest and turned away from him as she walked to the kitchen to fish out a lunch box

"This..." his hands clenched by his side however Zosia merely handed him the lunch box and coldly walked away from him

She was so angry her fiery red eyes was ablaze like a violent fire storm

Riezekiel's fists clenched and unclenched

Fishing out his optical brain he sent her a message requests which she didn't reply to

With a sigh he picked up her scarf which was lying on the couch

Sniffing her calming scent he walked out of the apartment with a heavy heart

"Chief" the soldiers all saluted seeing him walk out, they were ready and armored

He sighed as his muscles tended subconsciously

"Is the base guarded?" Tristan asked as he walked out of his unit, a frown settled on his tanned face

"The base is heavily guarded Tris" the soldiers rolled their eyes at how dramatic he was getting "Azreal?" Riezekiel called his voice barely above a whisper but enough for his team to hear

"Chief" Azreal answered his voice heavy with tension as he stared at Riezekiel

"Who's keeping an eye on my wife?" He asked gravely his black orbs stared coldy into nothing

"Travis... he's the only one we trust" Azreal replied "I could have volunteered to stay, who knows what the higher ups are thinking" Tyler scoffed

"Their bastards!!!" Cedric punched into nothing, his fist clenched tightly barely curbed his rage "we'll just have to go on with it for the greater good" Ryker sighed as they all climbed into the military combat mecha

The mecha roared to life once Riezekiel took seat

"Chief" Rico smiled seeing Riezekiel however the tension in his shoulders was evident

Even he wasn't confident in this trip

"The Zerg's have moved, our intel sent news last night" Harvey sighed as he opened a secret encrypted message

The meaning was clear.

They had to stop to Zerg's movement to avoid more casualties

The Mecha's soon disappeared into the clouds

Zosia's fists clenched and unclenched as she stared out the window

A nagging feeling gnawed at her

With no other choice she began to pack every valuables in the apartment

And by noon the apartment was cleaned out with nothing left in it and her space pocket was crowded at this point

She stepped out after a warm shower and walking down the apartment unit there were several women huddled together gossiping

However the fear in thier eyes was obvious

"You should go back in ma'am" Travis commented seeing Zosia walk out of her apartment unit
