Jiang stared at Mi Rae, trying to free himself from his grasp. "You've got the wrong idea."
"I'm not the kind of guy you think I am.'' He added firmly.
"Oh, yeah?" Mi Rae scoffed. "Do you think I don't know what you're up to? You just need a toy to play with, and you think Ma Ri is the best fit for that since she's so gullible. Am I right?" His fist tightened as he glared at Jiang, as if ready to tear him apart.
After a tense silence, Jiang exhaled and spoke again. "Sir, I think you have some kind of misunderstanding. She was there to celebrate my mom's birthday. I never invited her—it was her own idea."
Mi Rae's grip loosened, and he let go of Jiang's collar, albeit roughly. In the process, his shirt pulled slightly, revealing the chain Jiang still wore. Mi Rae smirked as he sat back down, sensing an opportunity to probe deeper.
