3rd POV
It had been a pretty hectic week for Georgie. He went to school during the day, spent time at the studio, and at night, he performed gigs at bars. He had been keeping up this schedule for a while, and since Fenley was often busy with her own matters, Georgie's father sometimes drove him to Houston.
Despite their concerns, Georgie's family supported him. The first time they saw him perform on stage, they realized there was no reason to hold him back. Georgie was a natural performer.
They saw it, they understood it—this was Georgie's path. So there was no reason to forbid him from pursuing it, even though they knew he was exhausted. They believed in him.
Rumors and gossip spread around school. Stories of Georgie performing on stage, how some classmates snuck into bars just to watch him. How did they even get in? Well, some brought their parents, like Jana and her friends, while others paid bouncers or had older people pretend to be their guardians.
At the very least, Georgie was happy to see familiar faces in the crowd, and they enjoyed watching him perform.
George Sr. also secretly attended the gigs with a few other teachers, much to Mary's frustration, as she couldn't bring Missy and Sheldon along.
Missy pouted and begged to go, as she loved watching Georgie perform, but Mary forbade it, and George Sr. backed her up. Sheldon, on the other hand, remained silent—he had no interest in going back to a bar.
"Another successful night!" James cheered, raising his hands in triumph. He looked around at the rest of the band, all smiling wearily—especially Georgie.
James, Kayla, and Edo had skipped school a few times to practice instead, prioritizing rehearsals over attendance. They didn't complain, though—this was different from before they had Georgie. Their gigs were a success.
They even had fans now! People came just to watch them perform, cheering Georgie's name on stage.
"I need to go home. I'm going to Cape Canaveral with my family," Georgie said.
"You should stay at a hotel. You can call your family to pick you up from there," Fenley suggested.
Before Georgie could respond, another voice cut in, "We can drive you home."
Georgie turned toward the source of the voice. He saw Jana with her family, along with Lisa, approaching them. "Right, Dad?" Jana asked, turning to her father.
"Sure. Good song, by the way," Mr. Boggs said, patting Georgie on the shoulder.
Georgie sighed. He didn't want to ride with them, especially if it meant risking an argument with Veronica later. But seeing Fenley exhausted, James and the others uninterested in driving back to Medford, and considering the fact that he was still broke—what choice did he have?
"Alright…" Georgie muttered, forcing a smile at Mr. Boggs before narrowing his eyes at Jana, as if trying to figure out what she was planning.
Jana simply flashed a sweet smile. Lisa also grinned at Georgie.
"What? If you don't want to, you can just stay here," Jana said with a casual shrug.
"I said alright," Georgie repeated, trying to ignore them. He returned to helping his team load their equipment into the minivan, preparing to take it back to the studio.
Fenley chuckled at the sight—if Georgie had chosen to stay, he would've just paid for his lodging himself. But well… they all knew what was going to happen next.
"Done. See you guys on Monday," Georgie told the rest of the band and crew before turning to James and Alex. "Alright, you all get some rest. It's been a hell of a week for us. And we didn't even get paid!" Georgie exaggerated, making James and the others chuckle.
"But it's been a great week for us," he added with a genuine smile. "Thanks, guys. Great work."
After exchanging pleasantries, Georgie walked over to Jana, who was waiting for him in her father's car. He felt slightly relieved knowing that Jana's parents were present—it gave him a solid excuse later if needed.
"Ready to go?" Jana asked, smiling at him. Georgie had a feeling this was going to lead to trouble.
"Hmm… I think I'll just sleep at the studio…" Georgie muttered, glancing at the minivan as it drove away. "…Or not."
Jana laughed and opened the car door. "Get in."
Mrs. Boggs was sitting in the front seat, smiling warmly. "Would you like to sit up front?" she offered.
"No, no, it's okay, Mrs. Boggs," Georgie said, sliding into the backseat.
"Please, just call me Nicole," she said with a warm smile.
Lisa was already seated next to him, grinning. "Are you comfortable?" she asked, giving him a playful wink.
"Kids, seatbelts on," Mr. Boggs reminded them, glancing at them through the rearview mirror.
"Yes, Mr. Boggs," Georgie replied, ignoring Lisa's question.
"Don't squeeze my hand!" he added, glaring at Lisa, who was still giving him cute winks.
Jana, sitting on Georgie's other side, wrapped her arms around his and hugged it tightly, resting her head against his shoulder.
Georgie stared at her awkwardly, then glanced at Jana's parents, who had seen everything but said nothing.
Robert Boggs, Jana's father, observed their behavior through the rearview mirror. When Georgie's eyes met his, he quickly looked away.
As the car started moving and Georgie realized there was no escaping now, Jana leaned closer, whispering into his ear, "Where's your slut now?" before kissing his cheek.
Georgie's eyes widened in shock at Jana's boldness. Lisa, meanwhile, hugged his other arm tightly, unfazed by the fact that Jana's parents could see everything.
Georgie glanced at Mr. and Mrs. Boggs, expecting them to intervene, but they both simply acted as if nothing was happening.
"Oh, come on!" Georgie groaned, looking at them for help.
Robert simply whistled while Nicole closed her eyes and chuckled softly.
"I see nothing…" Robert muttered, turning up the radio.
Georgie was speechless. He turned back to Jana, who was still smiling smugly at him, while Lisa, now comfortably nestled against his arm, had closed her eyes.
He sighed. It was going to be a long ride home.
Georgie tried to pull away but found it impossible. Eventually, he gave up and accepted the situation.
Robert chuckled as he continued observing them. He knew Jana had feelings for Georgie and had already seen his potential on stage. Of course, he supported it, but Jana was still his little girl, and he didn't want anything to happen to her.
Jana had already told Robert about her feelings for Georgie. At first, he was a little annoyed that Georgie had stolen his daughter's heart, but after seeing him perform on stage, his perspective changed.
"Georgie, you can sleep. I know you're tired, and so are the girls," Nicole said from the front seat, looking at them through the rearview mirror.
"It's okay, Nicole," Georgie replied, attempting once again to free his arm from Jana's grasp, but she only tightened her hold, pressing it against her chest.
Jana chuckled at Georgie's struggle and closed her eyes again, resting against his arm. Meanwhile, Lisa was already fast asleep on his other side.
Nicole simply chuckled and closed her eyes as well, while Robert and Georgie continued talking quietly.
Georgie's POV
I didn't sleep at all in that car. Jana and Lisa held onto me tightly, fast asleep, completely unaware of how ridiculous they looked while sleeping.
Robert and I talked about many things in hushed voices. He asked me about my songs, and I mentioned that I was going to be the opening act for George S.
He almost killed us all right then and there.
That revelation sent everyone in the car into a panic, abruptly waking them up from their rest. The conversation quickly turned to that topic, and Robert spent the rest of the ride begging me for a backstage pass. But I couldn't give him one.
"Here you go," Robert said as we arrived at my house. "Come on, just give me a backstage pass! I drove you home, didn't I?!" he added, looking at me expectantly.
Nicole chuckled and gave me a reassuring look. "Don't listen to him, we're fine. We'll buy the tickets later."
Jana stepped out of the car, and I followed. "Thanks for the ride," I said awkwardly, giving a small smile to her parents. Robert grumbled under his breath, still annoyed about the backstage pass.
As I walked toward my house, Jana and Lisa followed me, their amused smiles making me feel uneasy.
"Uhmm, well? See you Monday?" Lisa asked, touching my arm.
I gently lowered her hand. "Yes. And thanks for coming to my performance and supporting me," I said.
I glanced at Jana, who was smirking at me. I knew exactly what she was thinking.
"That slut isn't supporting you enough, is she?" Jana taunted, pressing her hand against my chest.
I grabbed her wrist and looked at her seriously. "Stop calling her a slut," I said, smirking. "She's mine now."
Jana scoffed and leaned in closer. "I can be yours too," she whispered, wrapping her arms around my neck. Lisa stroked my arm, giving me a knowing look.
Thankfully, I had come home very late tonight, and since we were leaving for Cape Canaveral in the morning, my family was already fast asleep.
"No," I said firmly, pushing Jana away. "I'm not going to cheat on my girlfriend."
That was the biggest lie I had ever told myself.
"So, thanks for liking me, and I hope you both—"
Before I could finish my sentence, Jana kissed me.
It happened again.
My eyes widened at the suddenness of it.
A part of me had expected Jana to pull something like this.
Another part of me… hadn't.
Or maybe I had let her.
I quickly pulled away, looking at her with frustration—frustration at myself.
Was I really going to let my old self come back?
Is this how I die?
I remember it.
I remember dying.
I knew—I let her kiss me.
"Stop it," I muttered, exhaling sharply. Jana smirked, and Lisa followed her lead. "My turn," Lisa said before pressing her lips against mine.
This time, I was genuinely caught off guard. I hadn't expected Lisa to go for it right after Jana.
"Stop it, both of you!" I snapped, pulling away from Lisa, who only chuckled.
"I'm going to forget this ever happened. You two should go home now," I said firmly, reaching for my house keys.
Lisa and Jana giggled as they walked back to the car. "See you Monday, Georgie," Jana teased, winking at me.
"Huff…" I sighed, then turned my gaze to Robert and Nicole.
And once again, they pretended not to have seen anything.
"It was a really bad decision to accept that ride," I muttered to myself before stepping inside.
The house was dark, the lights turned off. Everything had already been tidied up by my family.
I leaned against the door, letting the darkness of the room settle around me.
This is hard.
Jana kissed me, stirring up old memories.
I know.
I'm a bastard.
I never ended things with Fenley, even though I had Veronica now.
I like Veronica.
I know I love her.
But I can't help it.
I walked to my room, glancing at the darkened rooms of Sheldon and Missy, then at my parents' room—also dark.
But my room was different.
Someone was sleeping in my bed.
Veronica.
She looked so peaceful, completely undisturbed by the sound of the door opening. The bedside lamp was still on, but it didn't seem to bother her.
I exhaled slowly, removing my shoes and socks before quietly approaching her. I reached over and turned off the lamp.
The slight movement woke her up. "Who?" she murmured sleepily, making me smile.
I kissed her forehead and lay down beside her, pulling her into my arms.
Recognizing me, Veronica let out a soft sigh and closed her eyes again. "Hmm… when did you get home?" she murmured, snuggling into my chest.
"Just now," I replied. "Can I sleep with you?"
"…It's your bed…" Veronica chuckled softly, but then she fell quiet. "…Let's sleep…" she whispered, turning over and slipping from my embrace.
I didn't say anything.
Instead, I pulled her back into my arms, hugging her from behind. "I love you," I murmured, pressing a kiss to her neck.
She didn't reply—only a small, tired groan escaped her lips.
I held her even tighter.
Silence settled between us. I closed my eyes, trying to drift off to sleep.
But then I heard her voice again, barely above a whisper.
"Who?"
I knew exactly what she meant.
"...." I didn't answer her for a few seconds before letting out my breath, "Jana and Lisa" I finally said.
I braced myself for a slap from Veronica, but I received none. Veronica turned around and kissed me softly.
I opened my eyes and looked at her before hugging her tightly again and sinking into our kiss.
After a few seconds, Veronica broke the kiss with a heavy exhale, "How?". She released my embrace and looked at me.
"They kissed me again. I was caught off guard." I said lying to her. It's a white lie.
Veronica didn't say anything and just looked at my face. looked into my eyes.
"I believe you" Veronica said back and hugged me back. I grabbed her chin and kissed her again, this time our kiss was deep and our tongues attacked each other.
"hmm..." Veronica sighed softly and broke the kiss, I didn't stop and kissed her neck. "Georgie..." Veronica sighs my name but doesn't encourage me to stop.
"You are so beautiful" I whispered in her ear and made her body tremble slightly with my breath.
I got up from the bed and looked at her, "I love you" I said and looked at her with a smile on my face.
I saw Veronica blushing and looking at me with a red face. Her arms grabbed my neck and with a smile on her face, "I love you too" she said before I kissed her again.
