Lina Riley maintained a cautious distance, tugging on The Princess Royal's hand in an attempt to leave, but Miranda Morgan blocked their way.
"What's your problem? I only want to be friends with you," Miranda huffed.
Lina's voice stayed cool. "I don't befriend rude people."
Miranda, never having expected such hostility, waved a hand in irritation. "Fine, fine! Shoving you was my mistake; I'm sorry, alright? Why do you have to drag this out?"
But her forced apology only grated on Lina's nerves. Still holding The Princess Royal's hand, Lina tried to step around the girl, only to find Miranda stubbornly blocking every step. Finally, Lina halted, her face dark. "Why are you so desperate to be my friend?"
Miranda's gaze flickered. She stuck out her chin. "You're really strong. Wanting to be your friend is perfectly normal, right?"
"I refuse."
