Chapter 122: Side Story 1

Consciousness returned once again. The Princess Royal found herself standing in a sea of blood, the nauseating stench so thick it almost made her retch.

Clack, clack.

She recognized that sound: rows of bones hung side by side, clattering in the wind. It came from beneath her feet.

Looking down, she saw countless human faces floating in the blood—or more accurately, skulls wrapped in human faces. Their arms and legs were gone, leaving only a spine, swimming through the red tide like fish, colliding with one another.

They roared at The Princess Royal above them, twisted expressions contorted in anger, yet they did not dare come close.

One bolder creature sprang forward, jaws gaping, trying to bite her. She did not move until it was about to breach the surface—then she grabbed the top of its skull, hoisting it into the air.

Clack, clack!
