Blue's happiness was short-lived when he heard Adam say, "If you're able to keep your distance from me for a while, I might find your existence acceptable."

Logan's throat bobbed. The look in his eyes showed that he found Adam's words unbelievable, prompting him to say excitedly, "Really?"

"Sure, whatever." Adam responded dismissively.

There was a hopeful smile on Logan's face. He said some things about doing anything Adam wanted before scampering away. In his absence, Blue walked over to Adam and took the spot that Logan had previously been standing on.

When Adam saw Blue, his eyes widened with surprise. For two reasons. The first was that he hadn't seen Blue in days and had been trying to reach him but with zero success. The second reason was because he was a bit afraid that Blue might have witnessed him being mean to Logan.
