CHAPTER 34: TRAPS

"What do you mean he's dead?" the regional president stood up in his office, looking outside.

"He killed close to two hundred of my guards just because he wants to kill a person. Looks like this person is looking down heavily on me," he said angrily.

"Don't worry, I'll think about what to do," he said. He cut the call and dialed another number.

"His excellency," he greeted.

"What's the matter?" the voice on the other end of the line was heard.

"Wallace broke into my villa and killed the CEO of Storm Corporation," the man said.

"We have evidence, so should I send SWAT members after him?" he asked.

"No need," the president answered.

"He's confident that I can't catch him, that's the reason he pulled that off. And to be honest, I dare not use the law to catch him either."

"What are we going to do then? Are we just going to allow him to walk unhindered and do as he likes in our territory?" he asked.

"Don't worry, I already have plans for him. He will fall the same way the head of the Carlos family fell," the president said arrogantly.

The following day was a weekend, and Emilia finished what she wanted to do, so she returned to New York, leaving Wallace. News spread like wildfire that the CEO of Storm Corporation had died due to unknown reasons, so the funeral was held during the weekend.

The weekend passed by, and another week started, marking the second week Wallace had been there. Laura's car stopped in front of Storm Corporation, and she walked into the building.

"What can I do for you?" the secretary asked.

"To the fifteenth floor, where the shareholders' meeting is being held," she said.

She was directed to the fifteenth floor and opened the glass door as she entered. The shareholders wanted to inaugurate the son of the president as the new shareholder.

"Looks like you've forgotten that you can't make any decisions, as this is my company," Laura said as she walked towards the guy sitting at the head of the table.

"You coming back hasn't been decided yet," the guy said with arrogance.

"I own sixty-five percent of the shares of this company, so I'm basically the owner of the company. No one decides when I enter and leave, and I can even make my decisions about the company," she said with a domineering tone, slamming a document on the table.

"That's the document that specifies your father transferred fifteen percent of his shares to me, and I now own sixty-five percent," she said.

"You're lying," he said, quickly taking the document.

"Well, your father did one last good thing before he died," she said. The guy's face paled when he heard that.

"You bastard, you know about the death of my father," he tried to rush towards her, but she kicked him away.

"I advise you not to do anything and just calmly walk out," she said.

"Do you think you can get away with what you've done?" he asked hysterically.

"I can get away because I know you won't dare to reveal what happened here today," she said.

"What do..." He wanted to talk.

"Why don't you check your phone?" She told him and turned to the remaining shareholders in the room.

"And you all, I have a gift; check your phones," she said, sitting comfortably in the large leader's seat. Their faces paled when they saw the content sent to them.

"If any of the conversation we have here today gets leaked, you will all be doomed," she said, turning to the guy.

"Do you dare to reveal anything?" She asked him.

"You..." He was at a loss for words.

"If you dare not, then get the fuck out of here," she shouted, her brows raised.

The guy fearfully left, and so the family that had been in charge of the corporation for years, and the one that started the corporation in the first place, was kicked out of their corporation.

Laura then turned to them, "I know about all the tricks you people pulled before, just to get my company, but since you are not directly involved in the destruction of the Carlos family, I will wipe everything and start over with a clean slate. I will advise you not to play any tricks, as you saw the result of the person who last played a trick. I will be the president of the corporation, and you all will look for a suitable vice president who won't play any tricks. If I find out that you all want to play tricks, I won't hesitate to destroy you," she said with a smirk.

"So, you know what that means," she tapped on the table.

"Fucking sit where you're placed," she said with a smile as she noticed their stiff expressions and body.

The whole place was deathly silent for a minute before she stood up.

"I'll be leaving then. We will have the next shareholders' meeting in the next three days. As for now, prepare my office for me, as I need to do some things tomorrow," she said, walking towards the door with nine shareholders following her respectfully.

That's how it was until they reached the first floor. They all bowed as they followed behind her, not daring to walk in front of her or beside her. The employees were surprised when they saw that, but they also quickly bowed towards her.

She walked outside the building, where there were countless reporters. She looked around and smiled.

"Who's the woman?" they all asked, questioning her.

"Silence," she said, and just like magic, the whole place turned silent.

"I'm the lawyer and the vice head of the Carlos family. We have sixty-five percent of the shares of the company, so the Carlos family will be taking over Storm Corporation today," she said.

Everyone was surprised when they heard about the rise of the hegemon of the country they thought was destroyed.

"Where's the new head?" They all tried to wrestle information out of her, but she ignored them and walked into the car that drove away.

Meanwhile, the announcement was broadcasted to the whole nation. The president, countless politicians, the three mafia families, and countless minor mafia families all saw the first appearance of the Carlos family since it had been destroyed. They all thought one thing:

"The one behind them must die."

***********************************

Laura returned to the office at the Maurinez Plaza and saw Lucia and Wallace waiting.

"Boss, did I do well?" she asked.

"You looked domineering," Wallace said.

Lucia also gave her a thumbs-up.

"What should we do next?" Laura asked.

"No need, as they are already making a move," Wallace said, and his phone rang at the same time.

He picked up the call. "Good morning, Mr. Wallace," the voice on the other end of the line was heard.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"I'm the CEO of Maximus Corporation, and I know you own sixty percent of the shares of our company. I want us to meet tonight," the voice was heard from the other end of the line.

"Where?" he asked.

"We should meet at the Palermo City, since it's your territory, and it's not far from Rome. I will text you the location of the nightclub where we are to meet," the man said.

"No problem," Wallace said and cut the call.

"See, they are sincere, even meeting in our territory," Wallace said.

"Boss, it might be a trap," Laura said.

"Of course, it's a trap, and they know that I know what they're planning. They want to kill me, and I'm at a disadvantage here," he said.

"How?" Laura asked.

"If we don't meet somewhere far from here, and they bring the fight here, we will be at a massive disadvantage, as we will have to leave the building and sacrifice it," he said.

"They know that this building must be important to us," he said.

"So, what are you going to do then?" Laura asked.

"It's time to rewrite the power dynamics of Rome. We will uproot them. Just get prepared. I will be needing a lot of bullets tonight," Wallace said.

At the same time, a man dropped the phone at one of the most influential hotels in the city. The heads of the three mafia families and the president were there themselves.

"He agreed," the president asked.

"Hmm, I just thought of taking a shot, but it looks like we have to investigate that building after we take him out, as it's important to him," the man said.

"Hmm, he agreed, but he must have looked down on the forces that we are sending after him. Eight hundred fortress guards from the mafia families, fifty top-notch snipers from the army, and a hundred and fifty death guards. Ninety percent of my guards, with ten special guards. He will be very surprised by the gift we are sending him," the president said, smiling sinisterly.
