CHAPTER 42: MARRY ME

"Why?" Diana's heart forcefully sank when she heard Wallace's answer.

"I don't trust you people, and I can't bring myself to trust you," he answered. The two were silent as they moved around the dancing floor.

"Well, then..." She said.

"But Earth is my hometown, where I was born, so you don't have to worry about me joining those forces to exploit it. I will try to do all in my power to save Earth. At least I have my agenda, and it can only be accomplished here, so I can't harm it," he said.

"Ahh," she sighed in relief.

"Well, that's a relief to hear," she said.

"Let me hand you the ring, then," she said as she slipped a black ring from her finger onto Wallace's finger.

"Why are you giving me the ring now? Who knows, people change, and I might betray you in the future," he said as she slowly slipped the ring onto his finger.

"I'm betting on you. Anyway, the ring is useless to me, so why not let me use it to make a bet?" she said.

"Hmm..." He wanted to talk when pain hit him. It felt as if the ring melted into his finger, and he felt searing pain from the depth of his body, the same pain he felt when he was injured by the demons.

"Arghh!" Sweat covered his head.

"What's happening?" Diana asked as she quickly supported him.

"I don't know," he answered. His vision turned blurry, and the last thing he saw was a lady wearing a dark evening dress walking up to him and Diana. He lost consciousness while the lady walked towards Diana.

"Thanks for giving him the ring voluntarily. I'll handle the rest from here," she said as she took Wallace from Diana. The latter looked surprised because she felt immobilized for a second, which gave the lady the chance to take Wallace from her.

"Who are you?" Diana asked.

"You don't need to know," the lady gave her a deadly smirk.

"You!" Diana tried to talk, but she felt an invisible force hit her as she moved three steps back. Disoriented, she turned towards them, but she saw the lady carry Wallace out of the hall.

"Fuck!" Diana cursed as she rushed out of the hall.

"Get in the car!" Bruce's car was parked in front of the hall, and she got into it. She saw Bruce and Clark.

"What's happening?" she asked.

"We don't know the origin of those who kidnapped him. They were not born on Earth, and it looks like they just appeared from nowhere," Bruce answered.

"Hope you haven't given him the ring," he asked.

"I've given it to him already," she answered. Clark frowned.

"Let's chase after them first," Bruce said.

"Clark, call the other members while Diana starts the lockdown protocol for the city," he said as the car chased a dark van through the road, which had scarce cars. Wayne City only had authorized individuals living in it, and most of them were members of the Justice League and other business members of the Wayne Empire, so the chase was smooth without any cars blocking the way because they had maximum power. The lockdown had been initiated as they chased the dark van.

The dark van soon pulled up at a rail station outside the city, leading to another city on the island. Outside the city was just a barren land with high electrical generators. Bruce and the two saw the lady carry Wallace out of the van with five ladies and five men surrounding them.

The lady looked at them and smiled. "Take care of them, and remember never to remove the limiters," she told her subordinate.

"No problem, we don't need limiters to deal with these weaklings," one of the ladies answered confidently.

"Let me just go and greet them," she said as she walked towards the members of the Justice Federation, who were up to ten now. Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, and the other five strongest members.

They saw the lady walk towards them with a smile. They saw the otherworldly beauty that had never appeared on the planet, the blue hair that matched her ocean-blue eyes. Her shapely figure looked as if it was carefully sculpted to perfection, and her fair skin made everything about her scream perfection.

She smiled at them, and it looked as if the most beautiful flowers were blooming, but all they felt was a terrifying sense of danger from her. Goosebumps rose on their skin as they looked at her warily.

"Do you want to come at me at once, or do you want to take a beating one by one?" she asked with a voice that seemed as if two heavenly bells were jingling.

"Ahh!" Clark shouted out to boost his confidence as terrifying laser shots came out of his eyes, but all they could see was that it stopped in front of her because a small blue shield manifested in front of her.

"No, I shouldn't be using energy against you people; it will be an overkill. Let me just use my strength. Anyway, just know that I'm not even using any strength against you," she said.

And "Boom!" A loud boom was heard as space tore open, and the air quaked. She arrived in front of Clark.

The next thing they saw was a red arc traveling through the air, rolling through uncountable distance, destroying countless generators outside the city.

"Oh no," she slapped her forehead.

"You people are too fragile. I've suppressed my strength to the minimum I can suppress it, yet I have to control the remaining strength perfectly as I can to just use the bare minimum, yet the guy collapsed from just a punch," she said.

"Who are you?" Bruce asked.

"You don't need to know," she answered.

Three circular objects flew towards the lady, and "Boom!" The ground split apart, and dust rose as the three exploded.

"You're playing dirty," she said as she walked out from the dust, making the remaining fighters feel despair.

****************************************************

At the same time, the pain finally ended as Wallace met himself in a dark world.

"Where am I?" he asked around as his voice echoed in the dark world.

"Don't be afraid; I'm here," he heard a voice and turned in the direction of the voice as he saw a light move towards him. The light was a man with hair and a handsome face smiling at him.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"The creator of Karum," the latter answered.

"What's Karum, and what does it have to do with me?" he asked.

"Karum is the third treasure of creation of the world, and as for the reason I created it, you don't deserve to know with your strength. You don't need to know my agenda, but I just want to tell you that since it helped you escape from hell, it does not have any destructive motive towards you. You will later know everything when you get strong enough, but I don't think that you can live to see that period because you only have three months until the remaining treasure explodes, and once it explodes in your body, Boom, you will be pulverized from existence," the man said.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"The beating you feel in your right chest, and the warm feeling is the energy of the treasure rebuilding your body. It has a limited time; it was created to explode a year after it has taken an host, so you only have three months before it explodes."

"What should I do?" he said.

"You have turned into a spiritual creature as your spirit has merged with your body through the help of the treasure, so what you have to do is to continue to absorb more soul essence to perfect the fusion and the enhancement of the energy. Once you've done that, and the treasure has finished merging with your body, an internal world will be created, which you will develop into a universe," the man said.

"Anyway, let's not talk about that now; the priority is to finish absorbing the treasure," he said.

"Why did it choose me?" he asked.

"You are the first one to go against the rules of hell, and you are an anomaly. It saw something unique in you that's the reason it chose you out of the uncountable life-forms in the universe," he answered.

"But I can't trust you," he answered.

"Anyway, you don't have a choice now. You've already been saved from hell, or do you prefer to go through that torment in hell? You have no choice but to continue, so that you won't die, or do you want to die?" he asked.

"Ahh," he sighed, resigned to his fate.

"What do I have to do?" he asked.

"Absorb the residual energy of the treasure to perfect your genes," he said.

"I guess I have no choice, then," he said.

"Of course, you have no choice. Go out to absorb what you have to absorb if you don't want to die," he said, and

"Whoosh!" He was ejected out of the dark world.

His vision brightened, and the first thing he saw was the face of a lady. A perfect face with no flaws whatsoever.

"Marry me," she said when she saw him.
