Chapter 17

"I don't need your pity or concern Edward Cullen, I've lived like this for years, and I enjoy having this quiet place for myself, It's not the best but it is mine. Now you can see yourself out." Arthur said, his words would make one think that he was mad however he didn't feel much if anything at all.

He just wanted to get some sleep and be over with the day.

"I don't think I'll ever be able to understand you, Arthur," Edward said as he walked toward the center of the room and simply started looking around.

The more he did, the more the entire room looked worse.

"Can you really not come with me, Arthur? I know you don't need our pity, and I don't pity you either. I just want to help you out. Is that so hard to do?" Edward said after a few moments of thought.

Arthur didn't reply, It wasn't that he was ignoring him or that he had a lot of thoughts in his mind.

He just didn't know what to say or respond, he was stuck between two stones.

On one hand, he didn't want to take the Cullen's help as that would get him closer to the supernatural which he really wanted to avoid. There was also the fact that Edward could read his thoughts, it was something that annoyed him to no end however he would have to face it either way.

On the other hand, wasn't he already going to get caught up in their problems either way? How could he stay away from the supernatural world when his damned soul mate was a Vampire.

And so he didn't respond for a while, the only sound around them being Arthur's slow breathing and the lit stove on their right.

"Do you have enough room for me? I won't sleep with Alice." Arthur asked.

At his words, Edward's expression seemed to light up.

"We do, we have a couple spare rooms and I don't think you would survive a night in a room together with Alice, No you probably would survive just not as a human." Edward gave a nod as his lips curled slightly upwards.

'He should never smile, makes him look like a creepy stalker.' Arthur thought to himself as he looked at the young-looking man.

"I think my smiling face looks rather handsome," Edward replied as his lips fell into a thin line.

"Sure, tell yourself whatever you want," Arthur replied before releasing a deep sigh and nodding at Edward.

"Let's get going then."

Arthur walked toward his bag, slung it over his right shoulder and followed Edward out of the ran down building.

After getting into the car, it didn't take longer than half an hour for the two to arrive at their destination.

"Looks massive," Arthur said as he looked at the large mansion in his sight, a normal human wouldn't have been able to see it clearly however he could, his vision bordering on night vision.

A moment later, Arthur turned his head toward Edward.

"How far is your telepathic range."

Edward turned toward him slightly however he didn't respond.

"If you don't tell me that much then you can forget about me staying here."

It was only after those words that Edward replied.

"Around two hundred meters if I really concentrate."

"That is annoying, I'll have to figure out a way to stop you from listening to my thoughts," Arthur said as he saw the silver Volvo start to slow down in speed.

"I don't think that's going to be easy," Edward replied with a slight smile.

"I don't either jackass however I already have a solution though it's going to take a while to put into action."

"What is it?" Edward questioned.

"Before I answer that, what languages do you know?" Arthur asked instead of answering Edward's question.

Edward raised an eyebrow.

"I see, so your planning to start thinking in a language that I dont know however that's not going to be easy, you'll have to learn a new language and gain enough fluency in it that you can turn all your thinking in that language subconsciously." Edward said before his lips curled upward once more.

"I know English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian."

"That takes out the easiest ones," Arthur said in dissatisfaction.

The car finally stopped and the two got out and started walking toward the door.

"Have they already noticed us? I'd assume so." Arthur asked, he had decided that he would just speak out his mind when around Edward, It was useless to try and hide his thoughts for now at least.

"They have, they're all waiting in the living room, Alice is freaking out."

"I thought she'd be more stable."

"You're only saying that because you can't feel the bond," Edward replied before releasing a barely audible sigh and opening the front door.

'I fear for my future, just imagining two Alice's, it's frightening.'

"You decided to bring me here, If I die I'll come back and haunt you as a ghost," Arthur said suddenly, it didn't even sound like a joke when it came out with Arthur's emotionless voice.

"I am shivering," Edward replied in a flat tone similar to Arthur's as they headed In.

Walking through one more door, the duo arrived in the living room.

Arthur immediately turned his gaze to the six vampires seated around the room on black leather couches.

Arthur quickly put a name to each face.

On the far left three people were seated.

Rosalie Hale

Jasper Hale

Emmet Cullen.

Closer to Edward and Arthur were two people.

Carlisle Cullen and Esme Cullen.

and finally on the right side of the room, a short woman was pacing back and forth before stopping to look at Arthur.

Alice Cullen.

Arthur quickly turned his gaze away and looked at Carlisle and the rest of the Cullens besides Alice.

"Hello, I'll be staying here. Don't drink my blood, it's nasty."
