I woke up to a vibrating sound, my head pounding like someone had taken a hammer to it. Groaning, I shifted slightly, only to realize that was a mistake. The world tilted, and before I could react, I was tumbling off the bed, landing hard on my butt.
"Ow." I winced, rubbing my lower back.
Still half-asleep, I reached for the edge of the chair beside me and pulled myself up, stumbling slightly before collapsing back into the seat. My head felt like it was stuffed with cotton, my mouth was dry, and I reeked of alcohol.
"Christ. Why did I drink that much?"
The vibrating sound stopped for a second, only to start up again.
Frowning, I squinted around the room, trying to figure out where it was coming from. After a moment of fumbling, I found my phone buried under the blanket. The screen flashed with an unknown number—the kind with a country code I didn't immediately recognize.
I hesitated, but curiosity won out. I swiped to answer.
"Hello?"
