5. Chamber of Snakes and Horcruxes

After reaching the Dursleys I spent my time completing my homework and travelling between Potter Manor and Privet Drive. Fortunately, my elves were able to catch Dobby before he could steal any of my letters and he told me about his master's plan, whom I knew to be Malfoys, to do something at Hogwarts which will bring death there and how he doesn't want me to die. I told him that nothing will happen to me, and nothing will stop me from going to Hogwarts. While he still kpt trying to stop me, my elves were ready and countered him.

Thankfully, as my mails were not stolen, I didn't have to go to the Burrow. Don't to be disrespectful to Weasleys but even ignoring their financial condition I don't trust Molly Weasley and will not trust Ginny Weasley till I have a life debt over her. But I had to go to the Diagon Alley on the same day as the Weasleys because the Grangers were also coming the same day, and it was a good time to have a good laugh at Flophart's expense.

I met them at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour from where we went shopping. After getting all other things we went to get books. There when we were gathering our course books, Flophart recognised me and tried to drag me from behind to gain more fame at my expense but received a carefully placed and extra strong elbow at his groin. He immediately fell on the ground clutching his groin and moaning in pain. People around us started to whisper and the camera men clicked a photo of this scene.

"Are you a pedo or child kidnapper." I said.

"No ahh No Harry, I am Gilde ahh Gilderoy Lockhart, we met just a few hours ago." Lockhart said while trying to stand up, still holding his groin.

"Nope, never heard of you. I came here just now. I don't think we have ever met. If you are one of my fans, I would advise you to stop reading those fictional books that were written on me and stop living in imaginary worlds and please maintain some decorum, this is a public place and accosting someone like this is not very mature of you." I said, turning the whole narrative, he was going to build against him.

"No. No. You don't know me. I am Gilderoy Lockhart Order of Merlin, Third Class; Honorary Member of the Dark Force Defence League; and the Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award for five times in a row. And I am sorry for approaching you like this. I was excited to see you and I wanted to reveal a big news with you, you see. And for my rude behaviour I present you and your friends a whole set of my book series Magical Me." He said while the bookstore manager quickly came and handed the book series. Atleast it saved my coin from being wasted on this rag.

" I would also like to announce now that I will be teaching this year at Hogwarts, the most dangerous but needed subject of Defence Against the Dark Arts." He said trying to divert people's attention to another topic now that his trick failed.

After that drama came Malfoy who started insulting Hermione's parents and Mr. Weasley and then the small fight broke out between Malfoy and Mr. Weasley. After which I saw Mr. Malfoy place the diary in the cauldron of Ginny. After that we soon finished our shopping and had lunch at Leaky Cauldron. After that we went our separate ways to meet at King's Cross. I know I could have stopped the diary from going to Ginny, but I don't trust her, and I don't know if she is her evil version who just wants Harry because of the stories she is being told and his fame or her nicer version. So, I want that life debt with her. As for the safety of students, I have already tasked my elves to keep an eye on the entrance to the Chamber, after school starts, with clear instruction that if the sink moves to keep their eyes on their feet and to make sure no student around that area looks up directly.

After that we boarded the Hogwarts Express, as I came alone, I had already tasked one of my elves to keep Dobby away from entrance to the station. On the train I met with Hermione and to my secret annoyance Ron, I almost expected a ride without him, but it seems he also didn't miss the train as Dobby is already taken care of. But it seems fate will always play its hand when he fell due to jerk in the train and broke it. The first month at Hogwarts went relatively well, if not counting the confrontation with Slytherin Quidditch team when Ron has to puke slugs due to his broken which while nauseating was funny.

Remembering the timeline, I made sure that I was not caught by Filch as I don't want to go to a death day party. I am nice but not that nice to ruin my night among foul food and ghosts. I took special care that I attend the feast, and no one can point finger at me. When Gryffindors and Ravenclaw who were going towards there common rooms came upon the bathroom with Filch's cat, Mrs. Norris hanging petrified with a message written in blood on the wall. Then somehow, Malfoy came there and read the message aloud and gave his bigoted comment about the muggleborns being next target.

"And what are you doing here Malfoy. As far as I remember Slytherin Common Room is in the dungeon's and it is close to curfew, so what are you doing here." A Ravenclaw prefect asked.

Malfoy couldn't give a proper answer and soon whispers started and everyone started pointing at him. Dumbledore soon came and dismissed the students to their common room. But this time due to that clever prefect, instead of me everyone will be thinking that Malfoy is the heir. Good for me, more peace.

The year continued, and soon the first quidditch match came up, where Dobby put the bludger after me and while I didn't let that Flophart near me and my elves were able to remove Dobby in time but the bludger still sprained my elbow and I had to spend the night at Hospital wing. And at that night the first petrification of a student happened, Collin Creevey. Then Justin and finally a girl from Gryffindor after which Dumbledore was removed by Lucius and Fudge arrested Hagrid. I didn't go to confront Hagrid about Aragog as neither did I write in the book when I found it in the washroom, and I have no reason to risk my life currently, when I don't have the capabilities to fight 100s of giant spiders at once. After a few days someone, who I knew was Ginny, sneaked into dormitory and stole Voldemort's diary.

Now at the last Quidditch match of the season Hermione was also unfortunately petrified. While I tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen and went there, thankfully her smartness and my elves were able to save her, and she was only petrified along with Penelope Clearwater. And finally, the message saying that the Heir have taken Ginny appeared when I pretended to suddenly find the page of the book that Hermione tore, talking about the Basilisk. Then same story as last year happened again. We went to Lockhart, found he was a fraud, took him captive went down to the chambers, with the stairs, not in a slide. I made sure to keep some distance from Lockhart so not even accidentally he could grab my wand. And as expected, Lockhart grabbed Ron's wand, tried to wipe our memories, spell backfired caused an avalanche. Then I went alone to face Voldemort or Tom, whatever you like.

But mind you I didn't go there unprepared. I already had my elves bring me several roosters who are stored in shrank box inside my pocket. I went inside and made sure that I keep my wand with me at all times and met with Tom, he talked and boasted and what not and then called the Basillisk. As he was calling the basilisk, I brought out the box unshrunk it brought out the roosters and cast an area wide sonorous charm on them and also cast a silencing charm on my ears.

As the basilisk came out all of them crowed together and while it would not kill it, it would still weaken it. As this was going on, suddenly Fawkes came dropped the sorting hat to me and went to poke out the eyes of the basilisk. I quickly brought out the sword that appeared but instead of stupidly going there to put it through its skull myself. I fired a very powerful banishing charm on the sword, just as the roosters crowed again, that sent the sword flying and lodged itself in the roof of its skull and penetrated its brain. Then I quickly ran towards the book while summoning a fang from the basilisk and quickly stabbed the book once, twice and thrice after which Tom exploded. As the adrenaline started wearing out, I felt a stinging sensation and looked down to see that I mistakenly scratched my left hand which was holding the fang had scratched itself on it.

"Fawkes! Fawkes!" I called out knowing only he can save me now.

And thankfully the phoenix truly came and cried a few tears in my wound. In that time Ginny also woke up. She started hyperventilating and finally said that I saved her life, solidifying the Life Debt, meaning she can't harm me knowingly, means she can't give me potions to control or make me love her. After that I took the sword from the basilisk's mouth and hid the fang as I plan to keep it and went towards the entrance, met with Ron and from where we went to the path to the washroom, and I closed the entrance. After that we went to the Hospital Wing where we were given a check-up. Sometime later Dumbledore summoned me to his office and asked for details of what happened in the chamber. I gave him the same details as in the novel, and changing the memories slightly to make fake ones was not very difficult in case he used leglimency which he did.

Soon, Lucius came did his spiel and left the room while he was going, I decided to free Dobby because I liked the character in my previous life. I did the same trick of putting a shock in the book and giving it to Malfoy and predictably he gave it Dobby, who was set free due to this. When Lucius tried to attack me, I was already ready and casted a powerful banishing charm on him before he could do anything and stunned him. I did so much here because I made sure that there was no portraits or ghost in the corridor.

Soon the petrified students were also wakened. Me and Ron were given the reward for special services to school and the school year came to an eventful end.
