"It's so cute!"
Inside the warmly lit room, Misty had already changed into her dry clothes and was now sitting comfortably on the bed, gently cradling the newly hatched Togepi in her arms. She rubbed her cheek affectionately against Togepi's soft, eggshell-like body, and the baby Pokémon let out a cheerful chirp, clearly enjoying the attention.
Togepi had only been in the world for a short time, yet it had already formed a strong attachment to Misty.
"Pikapi!" Pikachu, standing nearby, tilted its head as it observed the affectionate moment between Misty and Togepi.
Meanwhile, outside in the courtyard, Brock was busy preparing dinner over an open flame. However, his attention constantly drifted toward Misty and Togepi. Every so often, he would cast envious glances in their direction.
Ash, who was assisting Brock with the meal preparations, chuckled when he noticed. "You really want to hold Togepi, don't you?"
Brock sighed dramatically. "Of course! I mean, who wouldn't? But it looks like I'm out of luck… Togepi only lets Misty hold it."
Brock wasn't the only one facing this dilemma—Togepi seemed wary of almost everyone, including Ash. Whenever anyone besides Misty tried to approach it, the tiny Pokémon would burst into frightened cries.
"Guess it's just natural for a newborn Pokémon to be cautious around people," Ash said, trying to console Brock. "It's only been in the world for a short time, after all."
Brock nodded. "Yeah, I suppose that makes sense. But Ash, even you can't get near Togepi? That's surprising."
Everyone knew that Ash had an uncanny ability to befriend Pokémon almost instantly. His bond with Pikachu was unshakable, and even the most cautious Pokémon usually warmed up to him quickly. But Togepi… well, it was a different story.
Ash laughed sheepishly. "Guess I'm not as good with baby Pokémon as I thought."
In the meantime, the other Pokémon in the courtyard weren't paying attention to their conversation at all. They were all fixated on Togepi.
The smaller Pokémon, such as Pikachu, Horsea, and Psyduck, had gathered closely around Misty and Togepi, seemingly drawn to the newborn. Even the larger Pokémon, like Pidgeot and Venusaur, stood near the edge of the courtyard, watching the scene unfold with curiosity.
None of them seemed to care that Ash and Brock were cooking their dinner!
Pikachu's Attempt to Impress Togepi
"Pika—Pika... Pika!"
Pikachu, determined to make Togepi laugh, started pulling silly faces. It stretched its cheeks, stuck out its tongue, and even crossed its eyes in a ridiculous manner.
For a moment, Togepi blinked in confusion. Then,
"Pokpok—Pokpokpok!"
Togepi erupted into laughter, its tiny body shaking with pure delight.
Misty giggled. "Looks like Pikachu has a new fan!"
The entire room seemed to brighten with laughter and warmth. Togepi's birth had brought a new sense of joy—not just to Misty, but to everyone, humans and Pokémon alike.
Even Ash and Brock, despite being slightly left out, couldn't help but smile at the adorable scene.
What Does Togepi Eat?
As everyone continued fawning over Togepi, Misty suddenly had a realization.
"Wait… what does Togepi even eat?" she asked, looking concerned. "I mean, I've never raised a baby Pokémon before."
Brock, still stirring a pot over the fire, glanced up. "Since it was just born, milk is the best option. MooMoo Milk would be ideal."
"MooMoo Milk?" Misty repeated, glancing at Ash.
Ash nodded. "Yeah, we should have some in our backpack. Check and see if there's any left."
Still holding Togepi, Misty quickly rummaged through Ash's backpack. After a few moments, she pulled out a small bottle of MooMoo Milk, relieved to see that they still had some.
But then she paused, staring at the bottle.
"Um… how do I feed this to Togepi?"
A brief silence fell over the group.
Ash scratched the back of his head. "Good question. I don't think it can drink straight from the bottle like we do."
"I'll go check with the hotel staff," Ash offered. "Maybe they have baby bottles."
Without wasting time, he set off, leaving Misty rocking Togepi gently in her arms.
A few minutes later, Ash returned, holding a small baby bottle. "Here, this should work."
Misty took the bottle and carefully poured some of the MooMoo Milk into it. As she prepared to feed Togepi, she shot Ash a look.
"You know, you could have poured it for me while I was holding Togepi."
Ash blinked. "Oh… yeah, that makes sense."
He quickly grabbed the bottle and poured the milk into it before handing it back to Misty.
Misty gave him a flat look but decided to let it slide.
Togepi's First Meal
Holding Togepi gently, Misty brought the bottle close to its mouth.
At first, the baby Pokémon blinked at the bottle, unsure of what to do. But as soon as the scent of MooMoo Milk hit its nose, it instinctively reached out and latched onto the bottle, drinking eagerly.
A soft, maternal smile spread across Misty's face as she watched Togepi drink. For a moment, she almost felt like a mother.
Ash and Brock both noticed the change in her expression.
"She looks like a mom," Ash muttered under his breath.
Brock nodded, smiling. "Yeah… she really does."
Once Togepi had its fill, it let out a tiny, satisfied burp, making Misty giggle. Its eyes grew heavy, and within moments, it dozed off in her arms, breathing softly.
Misty gently cradled the sleeping Togepi, holding it close to her chest.
"It's asleep," she whispered.
Brock nodded. "That's normal. It just hatched, so it probably used up a lot of energy. Plus, MooMoo Milk has a naturally calming effect on baby Pokémon."
Ash, Brock, and the Pokémon all gathered around, watching as Misty carefully tucked Togepi into a soft blanket.
The night air was cool, but the warmth of their companionship made everything feel peaceful.
"Pikachu…" Pikachu whispered, watching Togepi sleep with a soft smile.
Ash stretched and let out a yawn. "Well, looks like we should all get some rest too."
Brock agreed. "Yeah, tomorrow's another day. We should be ready for anything."
Misty, still gazing down at Togepi, nodded. "Goodnight, everyone."
With that, the group slowly settled in for the night, the joyful arrival of Togepi marking the start of a new chapter in their journey.
And so, under the gentle glow of the moon, the favored Togepi slept soundly in Misty's arms, surrounded by its new family.
