Chapter 12: Outing

Recap: their going shopping for dinner!

Haruki was checking for clothes for hori to wear.

Haruki: damnit, there aren't much casual wear here.

Haruki:....

He brings out one of his big gold jackets.

Haruki: here, you can wear this.

He handed it to hori with a smile.

Hori: thank you.

She collected it and wore it, however it was too oversized.

Haruki: alright let's go!

They head to a nearby store close to home.

Hori:woooooooooooooowwwwww!!!!!

Hori: this place is simply divine!

Haruki:.... it's a store.

Hori: I've never been to a store before!!

She yelled excitedly in front of a stranger.

Stranger:(what an ugly girl!)

Hori isn't ugly btw, she just has a really boyish hairstyle that most Japanese beauty obsessed freaks will call "ugly"

Haruki: hori don't get lost!

Hori: fufufu! You underestimate me haruki san!

Hori: surely I can navigate my way in such a small...

Hori: haruki san?

Hori got lost.

Narrator: how the hell did you get lost?! you LITERALLY just took 3 steps!!

Hori: worry not narrator!I just need to retrace my steps!

Hori was trying to find haruki when she saw a pregnant woman having troubles reaching a package placed below her.

Hori: here you go ma'am!

Hori helped her carry it and handed it to her.

Woman: thank you very much.

The woman kept the package in her shopping bag,it seemed she was still picking some other things.Hori just silently stared at her.

Hori:(I've never seen a pregnant woman before)

Hori:(her belly is so big!)

Hori: is it a boy or girl?

Woman:oh,it's a girl....I might have her this month.

The woman said casually with a smile whilst caressing her stomach.

Hori: I'm sure she will be as pretty as you!

Woman:aww aren't you a sweet girl.

Hori stared at her shopping items and saw it was quite heavy.

Hori: do you mind if I help?

Woman:oh, I wouldn't want to stop you from your shopping...

Hori: not at all!

She helped her carry her shopping bag.

They spent some time looking for household materials,it seemed hori had forgotten she was meant to look for haruki.

They chatted whilst shopping and hori got to know her name,it was akane Shuntaro.

After they were done, hori helped her carry her items to the register.

Haruki: there you are!

Hori: haruki san!

Mrs Shuntaro: hori do you know him?

Hori: oh, Shuntaro-san, this is haruki san,my friend.

Haruki:(who the fuck is that?)

Mrs Shuntaro:(wow, such a pretty boy)

Mrs Shuntaro: I'll be on my way now, hori.

Hori: be safe on your way home!

Mrs Shuntaro:I will!

Mrs Shuntaro waved hori good bye.

Hori: what a sweet lady.

Haruki:...(She's weird but REALLY sociable)

Haruki: let's get going.

Hori: yes!

They left the store and we're on their way home.

It was quite silent for a while before hori said something.

Hori: did you know her husband was killed in front of her?

Hori said with a frustrated face.

Haruki: you mean that pregnant lady?

Haruki answered non-chalantly.

Hori: yes, he was a simple office worker,he didn't deserve such a sudden death.

Haruki:(she really got a lot of info from her)

Hori: sins are such terrible creatures, ruining innocent peoples lives.

Haruki:(I'm still right here)

Haruki is a sin.

Haruki: well they've been around for as long as possible, so it's the norm now.

Hori: I swear on my life haruki san,I will pass the SABBATH EXAMS.

Hori: not only to terminate this contract.

Hori: but to protect innocent people!

Haruki: that's some nice resolve hori!

Haruki: and I'm totally with you!

Haruki and hori went home.

Haruki: okayyyyyyy time to make some omelette rice!

Time skip (yh I don't have the recipe or procedure for it yet)

Haruki set the plate with a spoon in front of hori.

Haruki: now I know it's just one plate and probably won't do shit because your some anime-ass shonnen MC, but just try savouring it.

Hori:of course haruki san! you spent time making it, I'll savor every bite!

Hori took one spoon.

Hori:....

She stared at haruki with astonishment.

Then stared back at her plate.

Hori: it's.... delicious.

She started crying.

Haruki: holy shit are you crying?!

Hori: there's so much love behind it making it warm and lovely.

She took another spoon.

Hori: I can never say this enough.... but thank you haruki san.

Haruki:...

He turned his face.

Narrator: haruki is embarrassed.

Hori: awwwwn, don't be shy haruki san, your a really good cook!

Haruki: enough already just eat!

He started cleaning the kitchen.

Haruki:(that was so corny, how the hell could she say that with a straight face?!)

Haruki thought with a flustered face.

Narrator: haruki is happy.

Hori:(happy?)

Hori:why don't you have a taste haruki san!

Hori: it wouldn't be fair to eat it all.

Haruki: (that's so sweet)

Haruki went and sat down in front of hori.

He opened his mouth.

Hori:.....(What the?!)

Hori: do you want me to feed you?!??!

Hori jolted back in embarrassment.

Haruki:yh my hands are dirty.

Hori:ehm...*sigh*

Hori: I suppose there's nothing wrong with it...

She fetched a spoon and fed haruki.

Haruki:... it's pretty good.

He smiled with a thumbs up.

Hori:I know right?!

They both shared only one plate of the omelette rice.

Hori cleared the place.

The time was now 9:00pm

Haruki was outside and got a text from his phone,he stared at it a bit and put it back in his pocket.

Hori was curious but minded her own business. she's learning how to respect people's boundaries.

She closed the curtain and changed to a simple T-shirt and a loose boyish shorts.

Hori layed their futon on the floor neatly.

She layed down on her side.

Hori:are you not coming to bed haruki san?

Haruki:....just sleep, I'll be back later.

Haruki:I need to take care of something.

He went outside.

Hori:... please be safe, it's quite late.

Hori said worryingly, she really cared for haruki and didn't want him to get hurt like that time with arson.

Hori:I know you're a sin and can regenerate but do try not to get hurt.

Haruki: no probs!

He replied with a reassuring smile.

Haruki heads out to God knows where after waving hori good bye.

Hori was laying on her futon but found it hard to sleep,she was still worried about haruki.

Narrator: you shouldn't get too close with strangers, inori.

Hori:(haruki san is no stranger narrator!)

Narrator: really now?

Hori:( father was quite strict during my upbringing, so I didn't socialize much)

Narrator: is that so

Hori:(I didn't have any friends growing up, since I was home schooled)

Hori:(so haruki san being my first friend is EXTREMELY precious to me)

Narrator: but still don't get too attached, he can still die despite being a sin.

Hori:(that wouldn't happen, because I will protect him with my life!)

Narrator: wow, what loyal friend you are.

Hori smiled with a smug look.

Hori:*yawn*

Hori:(I should sleep, haruki san said on our way back that he'll spar with me tomorrow)

Hori:(good night,narrator)

Narrator:... good night.

Hori finally sleeps.

Narrator:6 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE SABBATH EXAMS.
