Chapter 34: Summoning the Zombies

(TL Note: This chap was a little difficult to translate because I dont really know what they are talking about so it is difficult for me to get the proper terms.)

After breakfast, Serenade sent the Yae sisters to familiarize themselves with their new weapons.

Alone, Serenade left Yae Shrine. As she walked, somehow she found herself outside Yae Village, in a forest nearby.

Surrounded by trees, Serenade stared off for a moment before suddenly remembering something. She opened up Ai-chan's Treasure Trove shop.

Looking at the items in the trove, Serenade suddenly wanted to buy a few interesting things to try out.

She currently had 1000 Ai-chan exclusive coins, which allowed her to afford quite a few items. As for saving them up?

Rather than thinking about saving, it was better to consider how to earn more...

Thus, there wasn't really any need to...

Of course, it wasn't exactly true that there was no need to save...

Serenade scanned the items in Ai-chan's Treasure Trove. She ruled out the too expensive ones and those that seemed unnecessary at the moment. The remaining items all cost less than 1000 Ai-chan exclusive coins.

There were quite a few items under 1000 coins, spanning several pages, and many of them looked incredibly interesting.

After removing the Ai-chan series weapons and items she already had or wasn't interested in, there were only a few left.

Among them, what caught her attention the most... were probably the summoning cards.

Three types of summoning cards: Honkai Beasts, Zombies, and Titans.

"50 Limited Coins? That's reasonably cheap. I'll try buying one, just for fun. Let's go with the Honkai Beast Summon Card."

Serenade had enough Ai-chan Exclusive Coins to buy 20 of these cards, but of course, she couldn't possibly use all her coins on this one thing.

After successfully purchasing the card, Serenade held it and examined its attributes.

Honkai Beast Summon Card

Description: After using the summon card, you can randomly summon a Honkai Beast that will "completely" obey the summoner. Even against a Herrsher, it will dare to become an enemy.

[Summonable Honkai Beast Level Range:

Assault Class, Super Assault Class, Knight Class, Chariot Class, Templar Class, Thunder God Class, Warlord Class... Emperor Class, Super Dreadnought Class, Judgment Class!

The stronger the beast, the lower the probability. The chance of summoning an Emperor Class is 0.1%, while the probability of a Judgment Class Honkai Beast is 0.01%.]

"Even a Judgement level Honkai Beast can be summoned?" Serenade read the description on the summon card and thought, This is pretty impressive.

Although the probability was only one in ten thousand, it was still notable. A summon card only cost 50 Limited Coins, so with good luck, one might not need to spend much to succeed.

Moreover, the summoned Honkai Beast wouldn't be influenced by the Herrscher and would obey the Summoner's commands unconditionally.

This completely eliminated the feared issue of the Herrscher's absolute dominance over Honkai Beasts.

"Let's try it then. Come forth, my Benares!" As someone blessed with luck, Serenade didn't hesitate and activated the Honkai Beast Summon Card immediately.

If she could summon Benares, that majestic yet adorable dragon girl would be hers.

The key advantage was... if a summoned Honkai Beast was no longer needed, it could be returned to the card and resummoned later at will.

It was possible to bring them along on travels across various worlds, somewhat similar to the monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh.

As the summon card vanished from Serenade's hand, a white light flashed ahead, revealing a familiar Honkai Beast.

It was a drone... or perhaps more accurately, a massive mosquito.

"Huh? A Rush-Class Honkai Beast? Aren't I supposed to be lucky?" Serenade slapped her face, staring at the giant mosquito before her. This has to be bad luck, right?

Even if she couldn't get a Benares, surely a knight- or templar-class Honkai Beast was within reach?

What's the point of this Rush-Class mosquito?

Rush-Class Honkai Beast:

Attribute: Special Ability

Characteristics: Small flying monsters with rapid movement speed.

Attack Patterns: Seek opportunities from a distance and quickly close in for close-range attacks.

Sweep (Passive): The unit's basic attack covers a small area.

Dash: After a brief delay, the unit charges forward with a knockback effect.

(PS: Don't be deceived by its size; this creature has killed countless Newbie B-rank Valkyries named White Comet.)

"White Comet has no dignity? She'll awaken into an S-rank Valkyrie, 'Knight Moonbeam'. Although... my White Comet can't seem to become Knight Moonbeam. Maybe she just doesn't want to get a promotion."

Although this big mosquito wasn't much good, it was sufficient as a toy. It wasn't too big, so maybe Sakura and her friends could keep it as a pet! With this decision made, Serenade bought another Honkai Beast Summon Card and two more Fodder Enemy Summon Cards, along with two Titan Summoning Cards.

Now, she had 700 Ai-chan Exclusive Coins left. These limited coins... Serenade didn't plan on using them anymore.

"Time to summon another Honkai Beast..."

The Honkai Beast Summon Card in her hand disappeared, and another familiar Honkai Beast appeared in front of Serenade.

Before her, there was a knight riding an Honkai Beast that wasn't quite the same as any ordinary knight beast she'd seen.

Unit 04: Paladin

Attribute - Special Ability

Description: Appears identical to a standard Knight-class Honkai Beast but wields a long spear that crackles with purple Pyro flames. Has slow movement speed (can charge with increased speed).

Attack: Similar to a standard Knight-class Honkai Beast, but attacks deal additional burn effects, and the piercing attack becomes a charge attack.

Skills:

Scorching Flames [Passive]: This unit's attacks deal ongoing fire damage. Rush: Rushes towards the target, delivering multiple rapid stabs.

"Ah... Paladin, luck is still on our side," Serenade thought, gazing at the knight-class Honkai Beast before her. Having just endured the weakest Honkai Beasts, she felt quite content.

Emboldened by her apparent good fortune, Serenade hastily used two more Zombie Summon Cards.

Unlike the summoning of Honkai Beasts, the light flashing during the summoning of the Zombie was no longer white but a deep, black hue.

As black light mingled with mist and spread throughout the room, two Fodder Enemies appeared before Serenade.

Both Fodder Enemies were samurai wielding katana blades, specializing in close-quarters combat.

They consisted of Joyo-Ninja and an elite-level monster, the Kunoichi.

.

Joyo-Ninja

Category: Biological

Description: Wields two blades, entirely snow-white with rapid movement speed.

Attack Method: Utilizes dual blades for standard attacks. Not only can it evade ranged attacks, but it can also launch a swift charge to strike enemies.

Three-stage Attack: This unit's standard attack is divided into three stages, with the third stage causing an additional knockback effect.

Evasion (Passive): The unit can evade most targeted ranged attacks when not executing an attack action.

Rush: After a brief delay, the unit charges towards the enemy, inflicting damage and knockback.
