As Agent Roos finished speaking, Haruta felt a surge of adrenaline. He knew that they were in trouble.
"Get in the car," Maya said, already running towards her vehicle.
Haruta didn't need to be told twice. He sprinted after Maya, his heart racing with fear.
As they reached the car, Agent Roos shouted, "You're not going anywhere!"
Haruta looked back to see Agent Roos pulling out a gun. He felt a chill run down his spine.
Maya started the car and peeled out of the parking lot, leaving Agent Roos and his gun behind.
As they sped down the road, Haruta looked over at Maya. "What's going on?" he asked.
Maya's eyes were fixed on the road. "I don't know," she said. "But I think we're in deeper than we thought."
Haruta nodded, his mind racing. He knew that they had stumbled into something big.
As they drove, Haruta noticed that they were being followed. A black SUV was tailing them, its tinted windows reflecting the sunlight.
Maya saw it too. "Hold on," she said, taking a sharp turn.
The SUV followed, its tires screeching as it took the turn.
Haruta felt a surge of fear. They were being chased.
Maya took another sharp turn, this time onto a side street. The SUV followed, its engine roaring.
As they sped down the side street, Haruta saw a dead end up ahead. Maya saw it too.
She slammed on the brakes, and the car skidded to a stop just short of the dead end.
The SUV stopped behind them, its engine idling.
Haruta and Maya looked at each other. They were trapped.
Suddenly, the SUV's doors opened, and several men in black suits got out.
Haruta felt a chill run down his spine. They were surrounded.
Maya grabbed his hand. "Come on," she said.
They got out of the car and ran, dashing down a nearby alleyway.
As they ran, Haruta heard the men behind them, their footsteps echoing off the walls.
He knew that they couldn't outrun them forever.
But for now, they had to keep running.
They emerged from the alleyway and found themselves in a crowded market.
Maya grabbed Haruta's hand again. "Let's get lost in the crowd," she said.
They plunged into the crowd, weaving in and out of the stalls.
As they walked, Haruta looked back, trying to see if they were being followed.
But the men in black suits were no where to be seen.
Haruta breathed a sigh of relief. They had escaped.
But as they walked, Maya leaned in close. "We're not safe yet," she whispered.
Haruta looked at her, his heart racing. "What do you mean?" he asked.
Maya's eyes were serious. "I mean that Agent Roos and his men will stop at nothing to catch us."
Haruta felt a chill run down his spine. He knew that Maya was right.
They had to keep running.
But where could they go?
And who could they trust?
As they walked, Haruta knew that they had to come up with a plan. And fast.
Because Agent Roos and his men were closing in.
