" I created life" the man spoke as he struggled to his feet, grasping at anything for support. His breath was ragged, but his voice carried a twisted pride.
"You have vestigial DNA, Raiden. Traces of creatures completely unrelated to humanity. And a lot of them—far more than there should be." He steadied himself against a broken console, his grin widening.
"So I used that. I combined your DNA with your friend's cells to create something entirely new. That creature... it's like an organic machine."
Raiden's stomach churned.
"The foundation is a virus, engineered to sustain this new lifeform. Your friend's cells allowed it to endure the rapid evolution process. And your DNA... well, that's where it got its power—its abilities." His expression darkened slightly. "As for Edward... he served as the perfect incubator."
"and with that I created the perfect being, deoxyribonucleic acid creature, or as I like to call it"
"DEOXYS"
Raiden clenched his fists, disgust rising in his throat. "You turned people into tools just to create this?" he muttered.
The man ignored the venom in his voice. "But don't worry. It won't attack anyone." He exhaled as if amused. "It has only two missions."
Raiden forced himself to stay calm, despite the burning rage in his chest. At least now, he knew what he was dealing with. But there were still questions left unanswered.
"What's its mission?" His voice was low, controlled. "And where do I find it?"
The man shrugged. "I don't know where it is. It was programmed to stay hidden until Japan faced a real threat. That's its mission—to protect Japan from anything truly dangerous." His gaze sharpened. "If someone as strong as All Might—or maybe even Endeavor—attacks from another country, it will emerge."
Raiden stiffened. "Are there more of them?"
The man hesitated before answering. "Yes... and no. I prepared a few more serums, intending to refine the process with different methods. But there were no compatible candidates. They all died. and each serum should had a different effect" He let out a soft chuckle. "So I saved the remaining samples. For later."
Raiden's eyes darkened. "And the second mission?" asked the boy mentally
The man's smirk returned. "That, I won't tell you. Besides... you will see what it is, soon enough" He took a step back. "I have to go."
"Like hell you will!" exclaimed Raiden mentally.
Raiden lunged, energy crackling around him—but before he could reach him, the ceiling exploded.
Debris rained down as a blur of movement shot toward him. The same creature that had emerged from Edward struck without hesitation.
Raiden barely had time to react before an invisible force slammed into his body like a sledgehammer.
Pain ignited through his skull, his vision momentarily whiting out as he was hurled across the lab. He crashed through shattered equipment, metal and glass slicing at his skin, before he managed to halt his momentum mid-air using his telekinesis.
His breath was heavy as he steadied himself, eyes locking onto the creature.
And in an instant, he understood.
Psyshock.
It had just used his own attack against him.
Raiden wiped the blood from his mouth, his gaze sharpening as he took in its appearance.
It hovered above the wreckage, it was slender. Its skin was a mix of deep red and sleek blue, divided symmetrically along its limbs and torso.
A glowing, crystalline core pulsed in its chest. Its head was smooth and angular, with piercing white eyes that held no emotion
Raiden hovered in the air, his tail flicking side to side as he stared down the creature before him. The creature mirrored his stance, its eyes locked on Raiden. Neither of them moved.
Raiden took a moment to analyze the creature. Its arms, or what appeared to be tentacles, twisted and intertwined in a pattern that resembled a DNA helix. Despite its intimidating appearance, the creature seemed calm.
But Raiden wasn't disgusted by the creature itself.
It wasn't its fault it existed. What repulsed him was how it came to be—how the man had used his blood to create this monster, how many lives had been lost because of it. "I never thought I'd end up in a situation like this when I first started studying to be a hero," he thought bitterly.
The silence stretched between them, neither moving. Raiden knew it was time to prepare. He focused, clearing his mind and centering himself. He needed to be quick.
From the speed he'd seen the creature display earlier, Raiden knew it had an advantage in terms of agility and strength. Given the man had used Edward as an incubator, the creature was likely more powerful than it appeared. Raiden needed every advantage he could get.
His eyes flickered with an intense blue glow as he activated his abilities.
Calm Mind first, four times in rapid succession, this was his limit, no even beyond he felt the strain immediately.
Then he cast the other two buffs Agility and lazer focus trice each one, both of them boosting his strength and speed. It was a temporary surge, but it was the limit of his current power.
The creature tilted its head as if it sensed the shift in Raiden's energy. In an instant, it lunged, positioning itself in front of the man to protect him.
The scientist, undeterred, spoke calmly. "Kid, he isn't your enemy. The truth is, I don't want to kill you or any of the heroes. I only want to protect this country when it needs it the most. Just like the heroes."
Raiden scoffed. "Just like the heroes? I don't remember them slaughtering innocents to protect a nation, much less experimenting on them." relied Raiden mentally
The man chuckled darkly. "Haha, Kid, You truly didn't know a thing. I truly want to protect this place. The difference between you and me is just a small piece—innocence. You're still a green kid. You don't know much yet. You haven't seen the darkness of this world."
He stood and casually took a seat, as if he were no longer concerned with the fight. He examined his wounds, his casual demeanor a stark contrast to the violent circumstances. "In fact, you're lucky I'm the first 'great villain' you've encountered."
Raiden's eyes narrowed. He wasn't about to let this man get under his skin. The scientist continued, almost casually. "Kid, I have a proposal. I know you'll reject it immediately, but... in the future, work with me. I know you'll get stronger. My team will need someone to guide them, and you're the one ideal for the job."
Raiden's anger flared, and he clenched his fists. "You're one crazy bastard if you think I'd work with you."
"Let me make this clear: I will beat you down. And if, for some reason, you escape, I'll hunt you down and tear apart every monster you've created." Exclaimed Raiden as his mental message resonated in the man mind
The scientist raised his eyebrows, hearing the crude response a chuckle escaped him. "Haha, I apologize. From the looks of it, you've already glimpsed the darkness of this world. I suppose that's thanks to your partner."
He stood, wiping the blood from his face, his grin returning.
"I'll leave you with a parting gift, a token of goodwill. Your mentor, Kaina Tsutsumi—I've had my eye on her and I noticed something interesting. If you're not careful, she'll end up on the opposite side of you, just as we are now. Be careful who she works with, sometimes our environment make us change ."
Raiden's heart sank. The man's words lingered in the air.
As the man spoke, he turned his back on Raiden who stood still, facing the new creature. He wanted to chase after the scientist, but he knew he couldn't get past the creature blocking his path.
His focus shifted back to the red monstrosity in front of him.
"I hate the red color," Raiden muttered under his breath.
Without wasting a second, Raiden surged forward, moving with a speed that almost doubled his usual pace.
In the blink of an eye, he covered nine meters, as though he had teleported directly above Deoxys. In that same instant, he activated Double Team, and copies of him materialized, surrounding the creature on all sides. They were ready to strike, poised for close combat.
Raiden's legs glowed with power as he prepared to land a decisive blow.
But just as he was about to strike, the creature's body shifted. It grew bulkier, more rounded, and its tentacles transformed into rigid, wooden-like boards. The creature used them to block every potential point of attack, and the afterimages of Raiden's clones faded in an instant.
Raiden's kick landed squarely on one of the tentacles that now shielded the creature's face, the force of the blow send the creature crashing to the ground.
The impact left a deep crack in the floor beneath them, but the creature seemed unscathed.
Raiden wasted no time. He summoned five massive stones infused with ancient power, hurling them at the creature. The rocks crashed into it, burying it deep into the lab floor, making the whole building tremble.
But just as quickly, the rocks shook violently, cracks appearing across their surfaces. From within the rubble, a familiar attack emerged.
Raiden's eyes narrowed. He recognized the attack instantly. Eight stars shot toward him with unerring precision, following his every movement. Raiden's frown deepened.
"Swift," he muttered. He had used that move countless times, and now the creature was using it against him.
In response, Raiden activated Swift of his own. But this time, he didn't just use it once. he sent out sixteen stars, all colliding with the creature's stars in mid-air. The resulting explosion sent shockwaves through the lab, but Raiden could feel it—the creature was stronger than he had anticipated.
The remaining eight stars from Raiden's attack that hadn't collided and exploded hurtled toward the creature. Who reacted swiftly, blocking the incoming assault with its four arms. Raiden wasn't done yet. He focused and unleashed Psyshock, aiming to break through the creature's defense.
But as the energy surged toward the creature, its body shifted again. The tentacles returned, more menacing than before, and its chest darkened to a deep black. Three red horns sprouted from its head, giving it an even more monstrous appearance. Without hesitation, the creature fired a Psyshock back at Raiden.
When the two attacks collided, a shockwave erupted, reverberating through the lab. Raiden was sent flying, crashing into the wall with tremendous force. The creature tilted its head, watching him intently as it slowly advanced toward him.
"Tsk." Raiden clicked his tongue in frustration, but before the creature, Deoxys could get any closer, Raiden eyes glowed a brilliant blue. With a swift motion, he raised his hand, summoning five massive stones from below the ground. The strength behind the impact was enough to send the creature hurtling into the air, shattering the layers of the lab ceiling above.
Raiden's wasn't over yet. As Deoxys ascended, he quickly relocated beneath it. The ability Ancient power sent a burst of energy across his body, giving his abilities a temporary boost.
Right after, Raiden's hands glowed with raw energy. He gathered all the power he had, focusing it into a single devastating attack. Then, with a swift motion, he shot a beam of concentrated energy—a brilliant yellow beam, surrounded by crackling purple energy.
Hyper beam.
The beam hit the creature squarely, sending a shockwave through its body. The force of the impact blasted through the building's multiple layers, leaving a massive hole in the ceiling. The hole opened up to the clear night sky.
the stars shining brightly through the newly created gap.
Raiden stood still, his breath steady, watching the destruction he had caused.
Raiden quickly scanned the room, his eyes darting around the lab in search of the scientist. His gaze swept across the cluttered space, but there was no sign of him. Frustration surged within him. Using his telekinesis, he sent a burst of energy through the room, moving objects aside in a powerful push. As everything shifted, a mechanical door came into view.
"An elevator," Raiden muttered under his breath.
Without hesitation, he extended his powers again, pulling the door open effortlessly. He stepped inside, ready to follow wherever the elevator led. In less than a minute, he reached the top floor, where the elevator had come to a halt.
Without waiting, Raiden used his telekinesis to force the elevator doors open, stepping out into the dimly lit corridor.
Ahead, he spotted the scientist, running toward a parked car. Raiden's muscles tensed, his target finally in sight. But before he could close the distance, a powerful blow struck him on the side, sending him crashing to the ground once again. The impact was so forceful that the pavement cracked beneath him and one of his arms broke.
Groaning, Raiden pushed himself up, his glare locking onto the figure responsible for the hit. it was that thing again.
End of the chapter.
