Synopsis

A seemingly powerless boy finds himself caught in the middle of a daring robbery. Despite believing his Quirk is useless, he makes a brave attempt to intervene and protect those in danger. But in the heat of the moment, he uncovers a hidden potential within himself—his so-called "useless" Quirk.

This is an alternative universe, here’s what to expect:

1. No system.

2. Weak to strong. I’ll develop the power slowly, so the protagonist won’t just beat everyone right away.

3. I’ll follow the game’s abilities, but some things will be changed to fit the story, and I’ll try to explain why.

4. Romance, no harem. I’m tired of that.

5. I’ll try to develop every character I introduce. The girls won’t just be decoration.

6. Since this is an alternative universe, I’ll change the plot and try to expand the world.

7. The power levels will be a bit higher, and even useless powers will have ways to improve.

8. This is my first novel, so go easy on me, haha..

Finally an mha fanfic that doesn't follow canon, has an interesting quirk and not a system and isn't a harem. This is increasingly rare.

I don't know what to write. It's just the best MHA fanfiction I've ever read. It's well written, the characters don't look like dummies. Interactions are plentiful. There is not too much water. The plot is moving slowly, and really frequent updates only help this.

A sincere review (first of all: this fanfic is good, but below are my reasons for the rating I gave it.) ===== Writing Quality: solid, it does a good job at delivering a decent level of understanding and immersion. [5.0] ===== Stability of Updates: pretty decent, actually a bit better than the site’s average from what I’ve seen. [5.0] ====== Story Development: and here’s where the problems start. The beginning of the story was interesting. Some red flags came up because of a certain red OC the author made, but that’s totally acceptable. I mean, it’s a fanfic — writing it with only original characters would be dumb and honestly disrespectful to the original work. The real issue lies in the development of the story. The author made level progression super inconsistent. There were a bunch of moments where the protagonist should’ve leveled up, and just… didn’t. And no in-universe reason was given. I’m saying this because those moments happened while the protagonist still had a low level (he still is around chapter 62), so it shouldn’t have been that hard or impossible for him to level up at least once during some of those scenes. Even if the level stuff wasn’t a problem, all that DNA and blood plotline was straight-up ridiculous. The whole idea of the fanfic is a protagonist with Pokémon powers in the MHA world. That’s unique — a special MC meant to have special moments. But once the author threw DNA and blood into the mix, it all went downhill. First came the clone worries. The author showed up real quick and said there wouldn’t be clones. He lied(?) We spent over forty chapters (which is a lot) with this constant unease about the weird direction the plot was taking — wondering if the MC would be cloned, if more Pokémon would show up, if someone else would get Mewtwo’s powers... And in the end, the worries were totally valid. We got beings that looked like the MC (deformed, but still there), and then another Pokémon showed up: Deoxys. The story lost all of its uniqueness right there — all because of a plot device that’s been used to death and is usually hated: DNA/Blood/Cloning. The worst part? The way all of this went down felt super forced. A friend of the MC just so happened to have compatible/adaptable DNA that made the villain's “fusion” work, the enemies conveniently invaded the most secure school in the world and stole the MC’s blood/his friend’s blood (they were together), and of course the MC, who has like a hundred psychic abilities, somehow couldn’t stop any of this — even after already knowing they were after his blood. If the DNA/blood/cloning stuff had been done really well, maybe it would’ve worked. But it wasn’t. And I say this with all the care in the world — it turned the story into something unpleasant. I really was enjoying it. [1.0] ===== Character Design: the MC is honestly great. I really liked him. He’s not some dumb reincarnated dude, not a "chad guy," not a psycho. Just a normal kid, no past life memories or any of that nonsense, who grew up in a world of heroes and villains and decided to become a hero himself. It’s simple, but really well done. I love that. The development of other characters, his convos with Nejire, his bond with Tamaki (?), Mirio, and others — all of that was super interesting. Even the villain OCs had their own personalities and reasons for doing what they did. My biggest problem with the character development is something obvious that got totally ignored. Psychics — generally speaking — are either mentally unstable or mature really fast. With Mewtwo’s psychic powers, the MC should be showing some kind of growth — whether in combat maturity or just as a person. That never happened. Felt like that side of things was left out. But still, I like the MC as he is right now, even if the story’s been frustrating. [3.0] ===== World Background: My Hero Academia is a solid setting for a story. The problem is that solid base crumbled once the DNA genius villain came outta nowhere, on top of the huge power scaling that got thrown around. Character strength was inconsistent at best, terrible at worst. One chapter the MC is training and beating a student, and in the next one, even after leveling up (which should make him way stronger, like +20% at least), the same friend who was getting beat suddenly learned something new and forced powers to exist out of thin air just so the MC could win. That inconsistency was wild. Now, with a good story, I can overlook that stuff. But… well, my earlier points explain why I’m so frustrated. [1.0] ===== Final Score: [3.0/5.0] The story is genuinely good. But like with any review, this is just my personal take — how I felt while reading it. After a certain chapter (somewhere in the first 20-ish), reading started to feel like a chore, kinda painful even. That was because of a bunch of uncomfortable unknowns the author threw in. There were a lot of “what ifs” that could’ve ruined the whole thing for me. And they did. Those worries kept building up and in the end, they turned out to be right. That’s more about my taste than the author’s ability, though — the plot, overall, is actually decent. If none of the things I mentioned bother you, the person reading this review trying to decide whether to read the story — go for it. Give it a shot. The author clearly puts effort into it, and they deserve a chance. Hope you have a great day! And to the author — I really tried to avoid any rude language here. I was (and kinda still am) super frustrated while writing this, so if I came off way too harsh or aggressive at any point, I’m really sorry — that wasn’t the goal. Seriously.

This story is amazing. For what it feels like, this is the first time in forever where a classic "self-insert" character is not OP from the get-go, does not have a harem, has an interesting quirk, and actually has character and worldbuilding that happens before the canon. Alongside this, the regular updates fuels my interest, and I can't wait to see what will happen next.
