Inherit The Darkness

The two were surprised into silence.

"….."

"..."

"....you can see me…?" The angel asked.

Her form enormous, filling the entire room with her graceful wings. Four wings covered her body into a sleek and white cocoon, while two covered Jean and two filled the room from one corner to the other. Her face was unclear, one second appearing as the most beautiful of women, the next as a blurry visage. A dozen translucent glowing halos floated above her head each one held within the other, like a group of concentric circles.

Half of the halos glowed crimson red, and the other half golden.

"I know who you are, the angel of cataclysm, the bearer of eternal knowledge, the angel of the thirteenth wing, and a dozen other names, Archangel Zepharyel."

Of course, Lin Jie had no idea who she was until the system searched the codex and informed him.

*Thud!*

Her wings unfurled and she landed on the ground, her divinely forged white-gold armor shining like the heart of a star. Her dozen wings filled the room as a floating coffin appeared to her right. She clearly wanted to fight it out to the end.

"Tis truly thou, lord of the night! The humiliation of our last battle is still engraved upon my wings!"

Only then did

Lin Jie notice the black feathers appearing every now and then across her wings.

Her expression wasn't what you'd expect, instead of anger or fear, it was one of joy and excitement as she motioned with her hand and the floating coffin opened, revealing within it a large white greatsword.

Its shape identical to her wings.

"Lets not waste time, and do battle once again,"

…..what did I just get myself into?

"Wait! I'm not Drac- whoever you think I am! I became this way when I awakened my power,"

Lin Jie waved his hands.

"You are his inheritor…?" Zepharyel seemed to have figured something out and her expression changed. Her smile overturned.

"...."

"In the end even he…" She muttered before disappearing. "I must rest, Jean." Her voice sounded from seemingly nowhere.

The strange interaction concluded, Jean and Lin Jie left confused.

"I've never see her that sad, she must have really cared for him," Jean sighed.

"It does seem so,"

"Don't scare me like that again,"

As Jean hugged Lin Jie she grabbed his ear.

"I can't make any promises, heh,"

"Remember when I fell into the well on my first day here?"

"When I had to jump down and swim to get you out? How could I forget,"

"Good. It really is you."

Thank god I answered right!

"Were you testing me?"

"I had to make sure, I can't handle losing you," She replied.

....what a cruel world..

After getting his body checked for a while, Lin Jie left to catch the bus back home, but the moment he reached the door he hesitated.

It can't be…right?

Opening the door, the sun struck him.

Pheeew~

His skin was paler and more sensitive to the sun, but it didn't burn him to ash.

….

"I'm home!"

"Welcome back, baby! Mwah!" Lin Jie's mother kissed his cheek and hugged him.

I should wait till dinner to tell them I awakened.

"Son, come help your old man," Damian's voice came from the garage.

Putting down his bag, Lin Jie went to the garage to help Damian.

Inside, Damian was sharpening a giant greatsword. At least a dozen feet in length, it was the renowned [Dragon-Eater] that Damian wielded in the war against the monsters.

"You finish up the top part, I'll do the rest." Damian tossed him a whetstone
