It didn't take too long for Roxie and the security guard to get to her apartment.
Roxie's apartment was built with a unique design. It was a single building. There were similar buildings around. A fence encircled all those similar buildings.
It was like a budget friendly version of an estate.
Her bags weren't outside the door. Maybe—just maybe—Gloria hadn't gone down the path she took in Roxie's past life.
She dug for the key in her back pocket. After finding the key, she tried to insert it into the keyhole.
Unfortunately, the key didn't fit into the keyhole. Gloria must have changed the locks to the apartment.
At least, some things from her past life remained the same.
The security man's eyes fell on her figure. Roxie's heart pounded wildly. She hoped the security man wouldn't think she was some kind of fraud.
She did not want to return the things she got after so much planning.
She turned to the security guard, "Don't worry. This is really my apartment. My roommate and I had an issue with thieves a few days ago and my roommate changed the locks. I haven't gotten the new key from her yet. She was always at home so I didn't bother with getting my own copy of the key from her."
The security man nodded.
Nobody knows if he really believed my explanation. Roxie gave him her phone.
"Hold on to this. My roommate would open the door soon." She said.
The security guard acknowledged her words with a nod again. Roxie grabbed the bags he was holding.
Roxie moved closer to the door with all the products she purchased.
She raised her hand up to knock. Her plan was simple. She would wait for Gloria to open the door. Then, she would rush into the house.
After getting into the house, she would find a bedroom, a kitchen or any other places in the house that had a door.
She would lock herself into any of those rooms and put all the things she bought in space. Then she would teach Gloria a lesson or two.
Gloria had great luck.
The end of the world was coming earlier than the time Roxie planned. There wasn't enough to time to give the cheaters the exact punishment she had in mind.
Roxie didn't want to focus on irrelevant people too much. She still had more purchases to make. Her preparations wasn't complete yet.
Her action paused. A discussion was going on inside the apartment. The volume of the people exchanging words inside the apartment was loud. The words they were saying could be heard by eavesdroppers.
"What is wrong with you? Nelson, can't you keep it in your pants for once? Would you die if you are not entangled with a lady? Why? Just answer me. Why are you like this?" Gloria's shrill voice questioned.
Her intention to cry was weaved into her words.
Roxie almost felt sorry for her.
Gloria sounded pitiful.
"Nothing is wrong with me. Gloria, why are you behaving strange. A man is different from a woman. A man can have other women. I don't know why you are reacting strongly." Nelson argued.
Although Roxie knew the part of her heart that was crazy for love was frozen solid, she still felt a prick of pain listening to Nelson's words.
So, this was the person she loved with all her heart and being.
Nelson was simply an animal. She was just seeing his true face and character now. Would Gloria regret snatching this kind of scum from her?
Before Roxie even acted, Gloria was already experiencing her own dose of karma.
"You didn't show this kind of character when you were with Roxie. Why did you suddenly change? You weren't like this. Nelson, what happened? Unlike Roxie, I am satisfying your needs in the bedroom. So, what's wrong? Gloria asked.
"Gloria, you and Roxie are not the same. At least, Roxie is a virgin that prioritizes me in every way. I can't say the same about you. Besides, outside that, it is a man right to have other women on the side. Even with Roxie, there would still be other women. The only difference is the time those other women would appear. If I was still with Roxie, those other women will appear later in life." Nelson responded.
Gloria laughed.
Her laughter was sharp and uncomfortable to the ears.
Her laughter started to fade away slowly, "You have the guts to say Roxie and I are different? Are you trying to say Roxie is better than me or what? If Roxie was better than me you wouldn't have cheated on her with me. You are going on and on about how she is practically a goddess but you still broke her heart at the end, didn't you?"
"Are you done?" Nelson's uninterested voice came again.
"No!" Gloria shouted, "I am not done. You like to parade yourself as some kind of prince charming but we both know you are not the dream man you are trying to portray to the outside world. I pay most of the bills in the relationship. I didn't care about that. All I asked for is for you to be faithful but apparently, that is too much to ask. Nelson, if anyone have not told you this, I would. You are a dirty pig."
"Stop talking." Nelson retorted, "You are calling me a dirty pig like you are better. If I am a pig, you are a dirty bug. The kind of bug that every living being would want to crush because you are disgusting. You slept with your best friend's boyfriend and you don't see anything wrong with that behavior. Shops are open now, you need to buy some shame."
The argument between the two was childish but Roxie still felt satisfaction.
Now, it was starting to seem like Gloria saved Roxie from the evil Nelson would unleash to anyone that makes the mistake of associating with him in any way or form.
Gloria spat, "Hypocrite."
Roxie had gotten her fill of the argument between them. Besides, she didn't want to waste the time of the security guard behind her. He was still waiting around to confirm if this apartment was really her home.
She resumed her action and knocked.
The heated argument that was occurring in the apartment stopped abruptly.
"Who is there?" Gloria's voice questioned.
