Roxie blinked.
"I can't say we know each other. I know a very good friend. This friend has the same appearance you have." Roxie replied.
Ambrose's eyes stared at her for a few seconds.
He didn't say any other thing after that. Roxie didn't know whether her reply was the right thing to do or not.
She did not want Ambrose to think she was trying to fake a relationship with him because he joined her team.
Anyways, the deed was already done. It was time to stop worrying about it.
"I don't mean to interrupt you two but I thought Ambrose said a group of people were on his tail earlier? Staying here is not very ideal. That's just my opinion." Kai interrupted.
He was right.
Roxie looked at two of them, "We should try to find a place that would be suitable as a temporary base. We can go on from there. We have to look for how to get food and other necessities before we think of tackling any apocalypse."
The rain outside the store had stopped completely. Although there was still grey clouds hanging overhead, it was a thing of joy to see the rain's disappearance.
"Firstly, we should quickly pick anything we might need from this store. We can't just leave like this." Ambrose said.
Roxie rubbed her forehead. She had even forgotten that Kai was the adopted son of the owner of this store.
What about his adopted father?
He had not mentioned anything related to that man since the both of them grouped up.
Roxie turned to Kai, "Where is your adopted father? Are we going to meet up with him somewhere or is there any other plans?"
Roxy hid a little test in her words.
If Kai was the kind of person that could disregard his adopted father or stab his family in the back, she would have to terminate all collaboration with him.
She didn't want to be group members with an horrible person like that.
If a person like that can harm their family, what would stop them from doing a similar thing to her or other group members?
Thankfully, all her guesses didn't come true.
Kai smiled, his smile wasn't warm in any way. Sadness was wafting from every area on his body.
Kai tucked his tongue in his inner cheek before he replied, "My father went to the next city a few hours before you came in. The acid rain might have damaged electrical items and equipment. I will see if I can contact him later. Getting to a safe place is the first priority."
Roxie nodded, "That's understandable. As the relative of the owner, can we take anything we want from the store?"
Kai laughed, "You don't need to ask me for permission to take anything. None of us has a space superpower, there's no way we can take everything away and we can't stash it somewhere to keep it safe. Besides, my father wouldn't mind. He would even be happy to see all these things being useful to us."
Roxie sighed in relief, "I am happy to hear that."
After speaking, she walked into the depths of the store to look for a bag. The other two men followed her.
The people chasing Ambrose could arrive any moment from now. They had to be as fast as possible.
Roxie didn't fear a confrontation with that group of evil players. Still, if she could avoid a fight, she would.
All of them grabbed what they could.
Roxie didn't tell anybody she could grow plants and she didn't plan on telling them anytime soon.
She grabbed a few things to use as a cover. The rest of the things she touched was sent into her space.
There was no such thing as too much. Any items that seemed useless at this moment might be useful in the future.
Soin, the three of them met up at the entrance of the store. All of them had bags that were bulging with various materials.
There was no car or bike.
Some of the cars on the road had either been destroyed by the acid rain or the owner wasn't around.
"We should go up towards that direction. This path leads to the downtown area of this city. There don't have congested houses and living areas. The houses should have a few foodstuffs in store. Those houses can be used as a temporary base too." Kai said.
Roxie believed him. Kai must have been in this world for a while. He was the best person for this kind of task.
"Wait right there!"
The sound of motorcycle packing loudly accompanied the loud voice.
Roxie traced the voice to the source. She wasn't surprised to see three people on the motorcycle.
White smoke curled upwards from the area the tire and the asphalt contacted each other.
The expressions on the faces of the new arrivals wasn't friendly.
"I thought you were going to keep running." The man that came down from the motorcycle first said.
He had black hair with blue eyes. The voice that shouted for them to stop belonged to him too.
A few wounds was on his exposed arms. Those injuries might be from the acid rain.
Kai rolled his eyes.
Somehow, Roxie felt like Kai would be scolding she and Ambrose inwardly because of this incident.
"What do you want?" Roxie's sneered
The other two players got down from the motorcycle.
The first man that spoke scoffed, "What do we want? What we want is very simple. You guys can leave, this guy stays."
His finger was pointing towards Ambrose.
Roxie shook her head, "That will be impossible. Let's do it like this. If you turn around and leave now, you will get out of all these unscathed. How's that deal?"
"I know you guys are players. If you know what is good for you, little girl, you would leave right now." The boss of the group of evil players threatened.
Roxie's mouth curled upwards, "Actually, I don't know what is good for me. Why don't you come and teach me?"
"I have given you enough chances." The leader of the evil player group cracked his knuckles.
The two people behind his back started to manifest their superpowers.
A layer of ice covered the hands of the player that was standing beside the leader's right hand the other player started to scream.
The moment Roxie head that scream, her ears started to ring.
She frowned.
This fight was going to be a little bit harder than she thought.
