Deal

Nurses, doctors and other practitioners in the medical field were always a hot commodity during the apocalypse. The type of apocalypse didn't matter, medical practitioners were always hot cakes.

Roxie's lips curved upwards.

Linda continued, "I don't have any any enemies that I know of and there's no any other issues that could cause problems for you guys. I don't have children. I am alone. My parents are in another city so there should be no problem from that area."

Roxie nodded appreciatively, "Thank you, Linda. You can stay."

Now, a new problem appeared.

There were only three bedrooms in this house. From the look of things, Linda wanted to stay in the house with them instead of just following them while staying in her own home.

The gears in Roxie's head began to spin. Normally, she wouldn't want Linda near her. She didn't want to share a room with her. This intention wasn't coming from a place of hate.

Roxie might decide to go into the space at any time. Her bedroom was a safe area to do that. If an additional person was there, she wouldn't dare to go into the space. Besides, she didn't know Linda well.

Even with all these concerns, both Roxie or Linda could not share rooms with Kai or Ambrose.

"Ambrose and I should stay in that bedroom facing the balcony. Don't worry, we would keep an eye on the temporarily fixed doors of the balcony. Linda should have a room to herself." Kai suggested.

Roxie looked towards him, "Thank you."

Kai stood up and walked away. Ambrose copied his action. Soon, only Roxie and Linda remained in the living room.

Linda's eyes followed both men as they left.

Roxie stood up.

"Come with me." She said and she looked towards Linda, "Let me show you your room."

Roxie brought Linda to the second small bedroom. The door was ajar. Kai must have removed all his belongings from the bedroom before they arrived.

Roxie gestured towards the depth of the room, "Go in. This is your bedroom."

Linda nodded before going into the bedroom. Roxie didn't wait for her to close the door before leaving.

She went back to her bedroom with swift steps. Once she was in the bedroom, she sank into the soft bed. Her eyes closed as her consciousness faded away.

****

Her eyelids shook before lifting upwards. This was a very relaxing sleep. Roxie got out of the bed and stretched.

Her bedroom had a large window that let sunlight stream in. The acid rain had stopped again.

Roxie quickly freshened up and grabbed the bags she brought to this house.

Most of the things in the bag had gone into the space.

If this house was a safe place, she would have left it there as a cover but Roxie was stingy. She didn't want to leave anything behind.

Anything can happen at any time. It was better to be safe than sorry.

She walked out of the room and went to the living room. Linda wasn't in the living room yet.

Ambrose was in the living room while Kai was nowhere to be found. Roxie sat down and waited patiently.

Soon, her patience drained away slowly.

"Kai! Where are you?" She shouted.

"I am coming." Kai replied.

Within a few seconds, he appeared. He was with a very big bag too.

"We can't spend too much time outside. We just have to do what we can and get back home. Although we have a little bit of immunity towards the acid rain, it doesn't mean we should continue soaking ourselves under the rain if there is a downpour." Roxie advised.

Linda walked in.

She rubbed her eyes quickly.

Roxie glanced at the new arrival. The wounds on her body had been treated.

She was really a nurse.

Roxie didn't even know there was a first aid box in this house but Linda managed to find it. Nobody even noticed that she moved around last night.

Roxie blamed the tiredness she felt but she also raised her vigilance. This was not the kind of thing she wanted to see.

If Linda had bad intentions, there was a slim chance that she would have succeeded. Although Roxie would have woken up if Linda tried to trespass into her room, the fact that she didn't even know that Linda managed to treat herself last night was a painful thing for Roxie.

She stopped thinking about the matter.

"Please, stay in the house if you can and if you have somewhere to go, make sure all the doors are locked. I don't want any trespassers in this house. Don't bring guests over." Roxie said her instructions calmly.

"Understood." Linda responded as she nodded.

Everything was settled and the three of them left the house.

They walked away from the downtown area their temporary base was located ine.

The whole world seemed to have been attacked by a mega disaster.

Some shops, buildings and other things were destroyed. A few roofs and parts of some buildings was melting inwards.

It felt like someone melted everything into some kind of gooey mess.

Has they walked farther away from their temporary home, more places that weren't totally destroyed began to appear.

"First thing first, we must try to look for food. Second, if we can find players to join our group, it would be great and lastly, we should be on the lookout for government officials or people in scientific fields." Roxie explained.

Finding people in scientific fields or finding government officials was like looking for a needle in a haystack. It was almost impossible.

Still, Roxie didn't want to keep that possibility out of her calculations. The world works in mysterious ways.

"Roger that." Kai said.

Ambrose nodded in response.

They didn't have a definite direction in mind, they just kept moving.
