Annoying Players

Some of the establishments, shops and buildings they passed were opened. Some people were still working.

Roxie didn't even know what to say. Humans and their work can be inseparable sometimes.

A world level disaster appeared yesterday and the next thing some humans decided on is going to work the next day.

Roxie had to give them their flowers. Humans can be superb sometimes.

Currently, Roxie didn't have any money so she could not go near any of those establishments selling things that interested her.

The only person that might have even a little bit of money was Kai. Still, Roxie didn't want to depend on him too much.

Their group was a cooperation.

Depending solely on one person was going to be a bad move in the long run. It was just better to avoid it while she can.

Roxie saw a supermarket. Half of the supermarket had collapsed.

The roofs had melted inwards.

"Let's go in." Roxie said.

The other two people didn't reply but they followed her when she started to move.

Roxie walked in.

The supermarket was almost empty and nobody could be seen. Some of the shelves had collapsed onto each other. 50% of the items present was destroyed.

Roxie didn't waste any time. She separated from Kai and Ambrose.

She wanted to stuff a few things in her space and she couldn't do it in the sight of the other two.

As Roxie moved, she threw anything her hands touched into the space. Some of the things she took did not go into the space. She held them with her hands. It would be a cover when her group members reconvenes later.

A large part of the items in the supermarket was missing.

Nobody knows if other players had gotten to this place first or if the greed in some humans heart prompted them to steal.

Roxie combed the supermarket from top to bottom. The supermarket was a small one.

The refrigerators and warehouses in the supermarket was empty. Her first guess was confirmed. It seemed players had visited this place.

After a few minutes, Roxie went back to the entrance of the supermarket. Kai and Ambrose were already waiting. Their bags were bulging.

Ambrose must have gotten a bag from the supermarket.

They left the supermarket and started to move forward.

The sky started to get darker.

Roxie look upwards, "We have to find a shade before this rain drops."

The moment the last word dropped from her lips, rain started to fall from the sky. A new set of wounds appeared on her skin.

Kai and Ambrose weren't spared.

Roxie wanted to groan.

All the things she did to get a flawless skin was rendered useless within a few seconds. There was a gas station close by.

She pointed at the gas station before running towards it. Kai and Ambrose got the memo.

Soon, all of them arrived at the gas station. There was a small building in the gas station and the door was closed.

Roxie walked forward and kicked the door with all her strength. The door shook but it didn't open.

She kept repeating her actions. Kai and Ambrose joined her.

Roxie brought her right leg back in preparation to kick the door again. Suddenly, the door swung open and she had to pause.

The sudden pause made her core balance shift.

She stumbled and took a few steps backwards.

She looked at the person behind the door after stabilizing herself.

The rain was still falling unrelentlessly.

"You guys should come in. Don't spoil the door." The man that opened the door said.

Roxie nodded in acknowledgment and she squeezed into the building. Kai and Ambrose followed her in.

The interior of the building wasn't too big. The gas station was on the small side itself so Roxie wasn't surprised. A few people were in the building already.

There were 10 people in total in the building. One person was even wearing a t-shirt that had the name of the gas station printed on it. He must be one of the staffs that resumed work today.

Roxie and her group members found a corner to sit in.

The fruits they got on this journey was substantial so the next destination will home.

Out of the other nine people in the building, six people were together in one corner. The person that opened the door was part of this group.

A burly man was in the group. The other five people surrounded him like stars around a moon.

He should be some kind of leader or something. Roxie glanced at him before looking away.

However, the burly man's eyes remained on her for a long while. It was making her uncomfortable.

What did this man want?

Since the man didn't do anything excessive, Roxie ignored him. She closed her eyes and continued to wait.

The other three people in this building was civilians. It was obvious. One of them was even holding a gasoline keg.

The three of them didn't look like they knew each other from somewhere before. Although they stayed together, each person was obviously doing their own thing.

An oppressive silence was hanging in the building. Nobody was speaking to each other.

Suddenly, footsteps broke the silence. Someone approached where Roxie was. Her eyes flew open.

She looked at the person that approached her. It was the bulky man that was staring at her earlier.

Her brows furrowed.

"Hey." The man said, "My name is Theo."

Roxie didn't plan to say anything to the man.

After a few seconds of ruminating, she changed her mind. It was better to speak to this man so he can take his leave early.

It would be best if she showed her disinterest while talking to him.

If that method doesn't work, she was ready to resort to her fists.

"Roxie." She said in a deadpan voice.

"Nice name." The man said before moving closer, "Are you guys players?"

His words automatically revealed his identity. Most indigenous people didn't know about players. Even if they did, they will think of them as some kind of semi-deity that descended on their world as a gift.

They wouldn't call them players or know about the system.

"Yes." She gave a curt reply again.
