Once Theo got affirmative response, he smiled.
There was a long scar extending from his right eyebrow to his left jaw. His smile dulled the effect of that scar.
"That's great. Are you interested in teaming up with my group? This apocalypse would be conquered easily if we work together." Theo said.
Roxie shook her head, "No need. We already have our own group."
After she finished speaking, she closed her eyes again. It was very obvious that their discussion was over.
Theo continued to stare at her for a while. His heated gaze was annoying to say the least but, Roxie kept her temper in check.
He hadn't done anything that would warrant a beating yet.
Eventually, the annoying guest left.
A low discussion came from the corner his group was staying in. Roxie couldn't hear what they were discussing clearly.
She didn't know if the players were using tools to keep others from eavesdropping or if they talked in a low tone naturally.
She didn't care.
Her eyelids lowered.
Another set of footsteps approached her.
Roxie wanted to throw her hands up in exasperation.
Oh boy.
Did she rub honey on her body without knowing?
Why are people coming over to talk to her?
She opened her eyes for the umpteenth time.
The person that came over to her side was a man. He had dark hair and blue eyes.
He was a little bit on the muscular side. There was a smile on his face.
Roxie stared at him with a stern face.
She didn't ask any question. She just kept looking at him.
The man ignored her obvious discomfort. He moved a little bit closer and the smile on his face reduced a little.
"Hello, my name is Benjamin. I saw you coming into this room earlier. You look like a martial artist. I just want to ask about something. Can I follow you? Don't worry, I can do many things. I am useful." Benjamin said.
Roxie rolled her eyes, "I am not a bodyguard."
"Nobody said you are a bodyguard. I just want your protection temporarily." Benjamin argued, "It feels like you are just trying to argue with me."
"I said I am not interested in that. You can't follow us. I am sorry. Please, find someone else." Roxie said.
The tone of her voice was cold and the man finally got the memo.
His face fell and the smile on his lips faded away. After a few more seconds, he went back to where he came from.
Occasionally, Roxie would notice his eyes falling on her.
She shut her eyes again.
The rain outside kept hitting the roof of the building. It showed no signs of stopping anytime soon.
Roxie kept her eyes closed and continued to wait.
Suddenly, someone starting hitting the door. The method the unknown person was using was similar to the way Roxie did when she was trying to enter the building.
The person didn't even stop for a second. The noise was too loud.
Roxie's eyelids lifted.
She looked at the door. Everyone were also looking at the door.
The person that opened the door for Roxie and her group members stood up again. The man walked over to the door.
He opened the door a little. The person glanced outside.
Finally, he made way.
The people outside came in.
This time, it wasn't a small group. More than 10 people rushed into the building.
Their exact number was unknown because of the way they came into the building.
After the people outside came in, the man that opened the door closed it again.
The door had been through intense things. Some of the people that just came in suffered various injuries on their bodies. Roxie shut her eyes again.
The room they were in became noisier. The honor for this noise belonged to the new arrivals. It felt like mosquitoes were buzzing near Roxie's ears.
Roxie was hopefully going to stay here for a temporary time so she ignored it forcefully.
After a while, the sounds on the roof that came from the rain started to subside little by little.
Eventually, it stopped completely. Roxie's eyes flew open and she rose to her feet.
"Let's go." She said to Kai and Ambrose.
The two men were already in the process of standing up too. The three of them walked to the door and Roxie unlocked it.
A few eyes fell on their group.
Roxie noticed it but seeing people's stares was not a new thing. She and her group members left the building. The sky was a bit clear. The sun was showing its light unabashedly.
Ambrose closed the door after they left.
It was time to return back home.
Roxie glanced at the other two members of her group, "We are heading back home now. I think our gains for today is very okay. We can go out again later."
They started the journey back.
Roxie stopped abruptly.
She noticed something strange. Numerous footsteps was following them. She looked backwards to see a large group of people stalking them.
These people were familiar. It was the group of people she met in the building they had stayed in to avoid the acid rain.
She raised a brow.
What did these people need?
She didn't take anyone's item or start a fight.
There was no need to keep walking. These people were obviously going to follow her again. It was better to wait and see what they wanted.
The faces of the new arrivals wasn't welcoming.
Soon, the group of people that had been tailing them came closer. All of them held some kind of weapon in their hands. It was obvious that they were not here for smiles and giggles.
"Why are you guys following us? What do you guys need?" Roxie questioned with her hands on folded across her chest.
She stared at the group coldly.
"So, you have the nerve to ask us what we want? Why should we not ask you the same questions? You have the means to stop this disaster that is happening but you are trying to keep it to yourself. How selfish can you be?" One person came out of the group and accused her.
His fingers were pointing at her. If there was no distance between them, he would have really shoved his finger into her nose.
