Chapter 24

Cory pays close attention to Jasmine throughout the meeting as the progress update report is delivered. She would catch him staring every now and then, prompting him to look away quickly while she barely flinched. It was difficult for both of them to concentrate, but they were doing a good job concealing it from everyone else present in the room.

Jasmine shakes hands with the board members and exits the room as the meeting concludes. She is accompanied into the elevator by Lisa and Cory who tries unsuccessfully to evade her gaze.

“There you are” Cory hears a familiar voice just as the door opens and they step out. He hated how his body tensed at the sound of that voice; he turned his head to see Josh walking towards them. As usual, He did not care who he brushed past; he just waltzed into the space totally unconcerned.

“Babe, oh my darling, I was so worried” Josh says, pulling Jasmine in an embrace.
