Chapter 47: Tensions in the Group
The atmosphere in the school courtyard was thick with unease. The once-lively conversations and laughter among Anita’s group of friends had turned into quiet murmurs and stolen glances. Anita sat on the edge of a bench, fiddling with her bracelet, as she noticed the tension hanging over them like a storm cloud.
“Alright,” Max finally said, breaking the silence as he stood up abruptly. “I can’t do this anymore.”
Everyone turned to him, startled by his sudden outburst.
“What’s your problem, Max?” Jenna asked, her tone defensive.
Max ran a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated. “My problem? My problem is that weird things keep happening ever since Jace showed up, and nobody’s explaining anything! Shadows in the halls, strange lights during rehearsals—are we just supposed to pretend everything’s normal?”
