Chapter 63 spirit test

Chapter 63: Spirit’s Test

The forest was unnervingly quiet as Anita followed Jace deeper into the woods. Moonlight filtered through the trees, casting eerie shadows on the ground.

“Remind me again why we’re meeting a spirit that might try to kill me?” Anita asked, gripping the fox pendant tightly.

Jace, walking a few steps ahead, glanced over his shoulder. “It won’t kill you. Probably.”

“Great. That’s super comforting,” Anita muttered under her breath.

They stopped in a small clearing. The air felt heavy, charged with an unseen energy that made Anita’s skin prickle. A low hum began to reverberate through the ground.

“It’s here,” Jace said, his voice low and serious.

From the shadows, a figure materialized—tall, with an otherworldly glow. Its form was neither entirely human nor fully spirit, shifting like smoke caught in a breeze. Its eyes, piercing and ancient, fixed on Anita.
