Chapter 92: Whispers of the Forest

The deeper they ventured into the Obsidian Forest, the more reality began to warp around them. The jagged black trees seemed to twist and stretch, their sharp branches clawing at the sky. Shadows moved where there should have been none, and faint whispers floated on the cold, stale air.

Anita clutched her staff, her knuckles white. "These whispers… they feel like they're inside my head."

Kael looked over at her, his jaw tense. "You're not imagining it. They're trying to mess with us. Ignore them."

"It's not that easy," she muttered, shaking her head as if to clear it.

Jace remained silent, his gaze fixed forward. He seemed unaffected, but Anita noticed how his hands flexed at his sides, his nails digging into his palms.

"Keep moving," he said, his voice tight. "The illusions will get stronger the longer we stay here. The forest wants us to lose our way."
