Anita stumbled back as the artifact’s energy pulsed through her. It felt alive—ancient, vast, and overwhelming. The Threads wrapped around her and Jace, weaving a protective cocoon before slowly receding, leaving a faint glow on their skin.
Jace steadied her, his expression unreadable. “You okay?”
Anita nodded, though her legs felt unsteady. “Yeah… I think so.” She glanced at the pedestal, now empty. The artifact had merged with her, its power coursing through her veins.
The glowing figure appeared again, its voice softer than before. “You have proven your resolve. The Sanctuary’s blessing is now yours.”
“What does that mean, exactly?” Jace asked, his hand instinctively resting on his sword.
