Chapter 133: Echoes of the Past
The whole Ashen Forest area was so quiet that the Shattering of the World Tree felt oppressive. Though the light that formed the trail was leading them, Anita had this feeling that someone was following them. All the shadows, all the movements of branches, felt as if people were watching her.
Jace seemed perfectly composed; even his tails, which lit up in the darkness, seemed to throb gently as they walked. His eyes were forward, but his ears flitted occasionally to every slight sound that penetrated Anita’s ears.
“You’ve done this before,” Anita said, after a while. "Haven’t you?"
