Chapter 137: The Heart of the Forest
The Guardian was moving fast regardless of its gigantic size, and its mighty fist landed where Anita had been standing. She turned to her side just in time, and the ground exploded just beside her.
Jace then jumped in from the side, attacking the Noh with his fox bead glowing in his claws. He swung at the Guardian’s arm, the blade drawing streaks of gold in the air after it. The Guardian bellowed, and this shook the surrounding air but did not stop.
“This thing is relentless!” Anita shouted loudly, thus taking advantage of the gap that Jace had created to stab the Guardian on the side. Her sword struck it directly on its blade, but it didn’t move as she had anticipated. It was not so with shadows; they moved, and the Guardian struck at her, and she had to dodge.
“It’s not just a creature,” the redhead yelled, barely managing to avoid the attack. “It’s the forest itself. We’re fighting its will.”
