Chapter 141: The Echo of Choices
Everyone was very quiet has we made our way down the mountain; it was the type of silence that took even the breathe away. Anita that she could still sense the faint hum of the sanctuary’s magic in her center, but her mind was still muffled by what she had seen in the pool.
Jace was at her side, his fingers curled into his pants pockets, but every once in a while, he twitched his ears. His tails, which laid low under the cover of the moon being completely obscured, seemed to still dance in front of her eyes. One realized as if it were instinctively possible to feel the energy associated with the fox bead – they were linked in some way.
Finally, after five minutes, Jace said, “You’re not talking as much as you usually do.”
Anita looked at him sideway, her eyebrows drawn together. "Just... thinking."
"Thinking? Or brooding?" Jace asked and there was a small smile on his lips.
