Chapter 153: The Ripples of Change
The return through the forest was not as noisy as Anita had thought it would be. The working of the glowing path had reduced, and there were only a few sparks that looked like they have been drawn from fireflies. It wasn’t a threatening quiet; it was a quiet of relaxation, and the forest seemed to be exhaling with relief.
Jace was by her side, his weapon put up but his fingers always resting near the blade. He looked around, the eyes that were once so scared were now just doing so out of the routine. Lira followed her and moved silently, almost as if she could vanish into thin air at any moment, I could see she was still upset.
Anita was also able to let off a little steam or rather the first time she was able to do so in what seemed like weeks. Mitigation had been done on the guardian. The corruption was gone. But she had to act as though what she felt in her chest was not some dirty niggling fear.
