Chapter 155: Echoes of the Past
The group marched across the plain where they had come from, the resplendent sphere with them in Anita’s pocket, but its heat was still felt. It emitted a weak rumble that could have been in harmony with their gaits, or so it appeared it was alive. The deeper they got, Anita could sense that andor the life that remained in it was throbbing at her very core of her Soul.
"Do you feel that?" Anita opened the rather tense silence.
Jace looked at her sideway, his fingers holding the hilt of his weapon. "Feel what?"
"The orb… It is like it is shouting at something—or someone.” Glancing at her side she felt the outline of the pouch where the glowing sphere lay.
Lira’s face crinkled into disapproval as she narrowed her wide eyes to look at the distant water. If it’s calling I wish it is not to come and disturb. Stephanie and I agreed virtually to the letter as she said, “We’ve had enough of that for one lifetime.”
