Another Death

Third persons POV

Aiden paced the hospital waiting room, his heart racing as he replayed the events of the day in his mind. Just hours ago, he had received the call that his father, Carlos, had suffered a stroke. The words "critical condition" echoed in his head like a haunting refrain.

"Why did I let him go out alone?" Aiden muttered under his breath, frustration mingling with fear. He could still picture his father's smile, the way he had waved goodbye that morning, blissfully unaware of what was to come.

"Hey," Artemis said softly, placing a hand on his arm. She had been by his side since they rushed to the hospital, her presence a calming force amidst the chaos. "You can't blame yourself for this."

"I should have been there," Aiden replied, shaking his head. "I should have insisted he let me drive him."

"Carlos is a grown man. He wanted to be independent," she reminded him gently. "We can't control everything."
