Who Wins?

Aiden's POV

The air was thick with smoke, the scent of gunpowder burning my nostrils. Bodies littered the ground, the remnants of Kane's men lying in pools of their own blood. It had been a massacre.

And now, it was just us.

Kane stood across from me, his gun raised, the barrel pointed directly at my chest. I mirrored him, my own weapon trained on him, my grip steady, my breathing even.

I was going to blow his fucking brains out, but I needed a little more patience, I knew damn well how to play his game.

For a moment, neither of us moved. Neither of us spoke.

Then...

Kane chuckled, breaking the thick silence that was beginning to form around us. A low, bitter laugh that echoed through the silence.

"Look at us, brother," he said, shaking his head. "Is this what it's come to?"
