Let Kane Go

Aiden's POV

A week had passed since Kane had been locked in one of the chambers beneath the estate.

In those seven days, I watched him slowly become the man I wanted him to be.

Desperate. Hungry for power.

He was buying into the illusion Don Carlo and I carefully built; that he was slowly rising to power within the organization. We had given him control over a small portion of the business, something insignificant, just enough to feed his ego and make him feel like he was gaining control.

But the truth?

Kane was nothing more than a puppet. And I was the one pulling the strings.

My men monitored him closely, every conversation he had, every move he made. He was being watched from the moment he woke up to the moment he closed his eyes at night.

The more we fed him the illusion of power, the more he believed he was slowly replacing Vincent.

Exactly what I needed.

But today wasn't about Kane.

Today was about her.
