Chapter 15 Amelia Garcia Slapped Back with a Backhand

As she finished speaking, Amelia turned and walked away.

"Stop right there!" Lily actually stepped forward and grabbed her, squinting her eyes with an aggressive stance, "Who do you think you are to insult me?"

"Oh, are you Mrs. Hart?" Amelia blinked her big eyes, "As far as I know, Mr. Hart hasn't married you yet, has he?"

"You—" It was like adding salt to the wound; this topic was definitely a minefield for Lily!

Having already felt humiliated in front of Christopher, she thought she had found an easy target to lash out at, so Lily, without thinking, raised her hand and slapped!

But the next second, with a "smack," her own cheek was struck and turned aside, with even more force.

Amelia lowered her hand, her expression turning icy in an instant, "If you're crazy, go stay in a mental hospital. Don't just bite people everywhere; be careful not to get killed as a mad dog!"

"You dare to hit me!" Lily covered her face, her eyes reddening with anger, gritting her teeth, "Don't think that just because you look like Christopher's ex-wife and that dead girl clings to you calling you 'mom', you can become Young Madam Hart! I have favors owed to me by the Hart family; Christopher won't marry another woman except for me!"

Amelia understood now and laughed disdainfully, "So you chased after me just to warn me about this? It seems that man doesn't care much for you either; otherwise, you wouldn't be so paranoid to see threats everywhere. How pitiable!"

People gathered around on the street and began to watch. Amelia couldn't afford to lose face, so she left the scene with those words and walked away.

Lily stood by the roadside fuming for a while, cursing the onlookers, then stormed off in her high heels.

Above the piano store, Lucas King watched the entire scene clearly from the window.

"President Hart, they've both gone their separate ways."

Christopher appeared surprised, his voice calm, "So soon?"

"Lily slapped the madam, and the madam unapologetically slapped back."

The man looked up, surprise more evident on his face this time.

An eye for an eye...

This was not the character of the woman he once knew.

He fell into thought, could he have been mistaken?

"How's the investigation I asked for going?"

"Still looking into it in Europe, but as far as we know so far, there's no problem."

"No problem? You mean, there is a person named Clarke Norton?"

"Yes, from a local Chinese family whose ancestors moved to Europe to do business. Miss Norton graduated from Stanford University, then opened her own jewelry studio. Because of her innovative and bold style, she quickly made a name in the industry. Many European celebrities and nobility like her work, and she has even been invited to some Royal Palace events."

Lucas finished his report, seeing his boss deep in thought and remained silent, then cautiously offered a suggestion, "Actually, it's simple to prove her identity."

Christopher glanced at him.

Lucas cleared his throat, "You could... find an opportunity to flirt with her, or, cough, get close, and then when she's not paying attention, pluck a hair and do a paternity test with Miss Hope. Wouldn't that work?"

DNA comparison — the simplest, fastest, and most accurate method!

Christopher looked at him and, suddenly smiling slightly, "I see you're not great at legitimate business, but you certainly have a knack for sneaky tricks."

Lucas chuckled, sycophantically saying, "Thank you for the compliment, President Hart."

Christopher stroked his chin, thinking that the method was set but how to implement it was the issue.

For over four years, he never had a woman close. Even though Lily flaunted the title of Mrs. Hart, he never had any intimate acts with her, not even holding hands unless it was play-acting for appearances.

But now, for him to take initiative with a "stranger" woman...

President Hart was somewhat troubled.

----

Heart Nurturing Garden was River City's most upscale convalescent hospital, and only the rich or noble stayed there.

Wendy Hart, Christopher's younger sister, had been a resident here for over a decade.

Lily drove to Wendy's private cottage, spotting her from afar sitting under the sun, sketching the landscape of Rocky Mountain in the distance.

"Hmm, a sickly thing, if she hadn't been born into a wealthy family like the Harts, with endless money to support her, she would've been in her grave long ago." Lily murmured to herself as she turned off the car and put on a smile as she exited the vehicle.

"Wendy!"

Wendy turned her wheelchair around and immediately smiled, "Lily, you're here! Perfect, come quickly, be my model!"

The thought of modeling made Lily inwardly cringe, but she still enthusiastically replied, "Of course! I knew you'd be short of models, so I volunteered!"

"You're the best, Lily!"

Lily walked over, sat down on a chair, and posed as Wendy requested.

Wendy had always been frail, and if it wasn't for a suitable kidney donor found four years ago and the successful transplant, she might have died.

And the benevolent donor of the kidney was none other than the model sitting in front of her—Lily.

Organ donation between non-relatives was extremely rare domestically, so Lily became a benefactor of the Hart family, and Christopher thus promised to marry her and take care of her for life.

Lily had an agenda for this visit and was therefore absent-minded; Wendy soon noticed and asked while sketching, "Feeling down? Has my brother bullied you again?"

Finally, the question came, and Lily heaved a sigh and said with an air of grievance, "Ah... my fate is so tough. Why did I have to fall in love with your brother? I guess I'll never win his heart in this lifetime."

Wendy smiled, "Why do you want his heart? The position of Young Madam Hart is definitely yours."

"That's not necessarily the case."

Wendy's eyebrows arched, "What do you mean? Does my brother have a new love interest?"

"It's more serious than that!" Lily's face changed, she was about to get up, but Wendy promptly reminded her to pose again.

Annoyed, yet unable to show it, Lily shifted and seated herself again before speaking, "Do you remember the jewelry designer I mentioned to you? We finally managed to invite her back from Europe, and she acts so high and mighty!"

"Yes, and then what?"

"Today, your brother had another meeting with her, and I was there. Guess who that person looks like?"

"Looks like who?" Wendy's expression was neutral.

"Like Amelia!"

The sketching pencil suddenly paused on the drawing board, Wendy looked up at Lily, "You mean my deceased sister-in-law?"

"Yes!" Finally getting to the heart of the matter, Lily could not stay seated, she stood up and moved closer to Wendy, saying seriously, "Really, she bears a striking resemblance. But this designer is dressed very fashionably, she comes across very independent and brash, much more competent and astute than the gentle, demure, and ladylike Amelia!"

Wendy smiled and put down her pencil, leaning forward in her wheelchair, "Are you suggesting that maybe my brother is still in love with Amelia, and upon seeing someone who looks like her, he couldn't help but fall for her?"
