Oliver Charles gave him a look, "Dad, if someone forced a partner on you, would you want it?"
Elder Charles choked, his outrage causing him to huff and his eyes to bulge.
"You little brat, it's all for the sake of your future! Just like Elder Brown said, 'young couples grow old together'. You're not getting any younger, surely you need a woman to take care of you?"
Oliver Charles retorted, "Dad, do you think she looks like someone who would take care of others?"
Elder Charles responded, "You've got money, letting others serve you can be dealt with by those beneath you. When I speak of care, I'm talking about emotional support."
Oliver Charles countered, "Then I'd rather keep a dog; it would add more to my life in that regard."
"You..."
Elder Charles fumed, "If you want to infuriate me to death, then go ahead and keep defying me!"
Oliver Charles was a dutiful son, worried his father might truly be angered to the breaking point, and he backed down.
