Clara followed everyone's gaze. In a booth far away, Edward Harper was sitting with a lady who was elegantly dressed and dripping in jewels; they seemed to be discussing business.

She hadn't noticed the details in the morning, but now she observed him carefully. He wore a sophisticated bespoke suit with a deep-sea blue tie, and when he reached out, the edge of a dark shirt peeked out from the cuff. Even the way he drank coffee was elegantly aristocratic.
