Clara was taken aback by him,
"I mean, in that kind of situation, the chances of survival weren't great. Why risk your life needlessly? Besides... I didn't want you to die either."
Of all Clara's words, Edward Harper only heard the last sentence. His heart filled with joy, realizing she hadn't entirely turned her back on him and still cared for him. She didn't want him to die, which is why she said those things before.
Edward took her hand, placing it on his face,
"But didn't we both survive? Even with the slightest chance, I had to take a gamble. The worst result would be dying with you, but to me, that wouldn't be so bad."
Clara's heart suddenly clenched a few times, then, after a few seconds, calmed down and withdrew her hand.
"It's late, and you're exhausted. Go back and rest. I'm fine here, and if there's anything wrong, I'll call the doctor. Thank you."
